Cheap ownership means no championships I suppose.

Boston is already a hard enough place to attract stars. At least nowadays after the whole Anthony Davis's dad and Kyrie Irving debacle.

I thought this was a great ownership group back in '08.
I am seeing too many decisions that could primarily be based on saving money.
If you own the Celtics, be able and ready to spend money. If not, sell and get out.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Overpay a guy and forget the flexibility you are trying to get to build around your best two players.

The Celtics have spent just over $50 million on the luxury tax since 2002.  The team makes about double that in profits every season under the latest CBA.

Wow, that seems a crazy low tax bill for a team that has been pretty regularly in the playoffs. Not sure if more of a credit to Danny or an indictment on Wyc & co.

One of the wild things is that the allegedly cheap ownership in OKC has spent more than double what we have.

Also have to imagine OKC don't rake in nearly as much profit as we do

Did we learn nothing from watching the Red Sox blunder away Mookie with their fiscally irresponsible decisions?

Just slinging money around blindly isn't the answer.  Throwing $80M at Fournier won't win us a championship, but it could sure as hell lose us Tatum and/or Brown if it hamstrings our efforts to land players who would actually make a difference.

I'm all for spending the right money on the right players.  Not interested in overpaying Fournier though.

Ok Wyc.  So for who and when are you going for it?  Inquiring minds would like to know when to pay to watch the games.

Haven't the Red Sox bounced back to contention again?
