Nice Forsberg article communicating some of the concerns many of us here have about this “flexibility” approach.

Great. So just like the Sox aren't really "going for it" this year, neither are the Cs. Can't wait to see what midlevel (that is, non-needle-moving) free agent Brad signs next summer with all of that "flexibility." Also gonna be awesome seeing opponents once again focus on Tatum and Brown and make the rest of the Cs beat them (which won't happen often).

From the article:

Quote
It appears the green are banking heavy on flexibility with hopes of chasing a bigger prize down the road.

Translation: Brad has inherited Danny's plan to someday, eventually, maybe, acquire Anthony Davis, LOL.

Have any other teams not made a free agent signing aside from us?  It feels like it’s just us — maybe Memphis?  Wolves?  Good company.

Memphis, Wolves, and Magic are the only other teams that haven't made moves.

The Magic just signed Robin Lopez.  We’re in the bottom three now.

Brad’s white whale is a considerably lesser player: Brad Beal.  🐳

Nice signing for them.

Yeah it is.  Gives them a great backup point guard for the days KI decides it isn't good for him to play.
Honestly, Brooklyn should be a shoe in for the title on paper.  I will enjoy it greatly if it all falls apart for them again.

it isn't even about money.  Mills probably wants to win a ring right?

Wolves are rumored to be working on a sign and trade for Lauri Markkanen, so it may just be us and Memphis left on the dance floor.

Celtics comfortable w/Marcus Smart as starter. Underrated distributor. As for some questionable shots vs everything else he brings

There is someone tweeting almost any possibility on Smart.  I like the idea of Bagley so I am going to remain hopeful on that.  I think we would be a plenty good team this season and for the near future:

Smart
Brown
Tatum
Bagley
Horford

Pritchard, Richardson, Nesmith, Parker, RWilliams, etc.

It is much more about Tatum and Brown than anything else.  If they both improve, come back better, Smart will be plenty enough of a PG for the team to be good.  Bagley was only 57% FT last season (ouch), career 66% so he has some work to do but at age 22, well worth a shot to see how he runs with Tatum and Brown.  Hard to see how it would work though.  Would SAC even still want Thompson?  Their core unit seems pretty solid:

Fox
Heild
Barnes
Bagley
Holmes

Not sure what we have that they might need.  Maybe Richardson for Bagley, then they go small'sih and play Barnes as a swing?

Maybe, but it appears it’s a two year deal with no options. Guaranteed we were like: “Naw on the second year, dawg. FlExIbIlItY!”  >:(

Sounds like we’re comfortable with Smart as our starting PG.

Hopefully this means we’re looking for a stopgap and/or long-time starter at PF. Maybe there are legs to the talk around us sniffing around Bagley (likely) or even Collins (less likely).

Bagley may actually be the best route to take a chance on if we can get him for a reasonable price, given that we can essentially cut him/not resign him the following year (I believe) if the Beal/free agent thing actually happens next summer.

Man, I wish we had a real PG who could push the ball in transition and create dribble penetration in the halfcourt. Someone who can play with pace. Someone who can create easy shots for his teammates.

Cameron Payne signed for 3 years $19million. We should have beaten that offer.

He took that money to play for a contender though. I'm not sure any player is taking a discount to be a part of a play-in team.

I mean are we even going to use the MLE on anyone?  Is something else coming from the other trade?
I mean player after player on small contracts for decent deals for almost every team but ours.

It seems like the vet out there got the word that the Celtics aren't doing anything this year, so they all decided it wasn't worth it to go to Boston.
Or BS is intentionally not signing anyone.
