Honestly, I don't understand why people are so disappointed in our moves or lack thereof so far. This team was brutally disappointing last season. I would have to seriously question Brad or anyone else in charge who would not blow that team up.

In terms of signing guys this summer, there's nobody available that would be worth tying up cap space long term. None of those free agents were going to turn this roster into a legit contender. If we had invested long term in guys like Fournier, Lowry, Ball, Jarret Allen, etc. everyone would be jumping off a cliff by mid-season and we would have no options to improve going forward. It makes complete sense to clear out the junk and aim for legit difference makers next summer.

Per Mark Murphy: the Cs are not expected to use the MLE this summer.

https://twitter.com/murf56/status/1422665334604062723?s=21

So basically don’t expect them to make any more moves. Wow. Just awful.

Time to clean house in management/ownership. They’re just being cheap; that’s all this is. No reason they couldn’t get a guy with the MLE this year on a one year deal and not have it on the books next year. They just don’t want to spend the money.

Too bad there’s no way to force a new owner. Anyone got any secret recordings of Wyc ala Donald Sterling?  ;D

Smith is right on here.

Hard to infer a lot from the Tatum quote, but it doesn't sound overly optimistic.

'Jayson Tatum on #Celtics trades: “You always hate to see guys leave, especially guys you build a relationship with. I guess that’s the nature of it. As a player all you can do is show up for training camp and whoever is there is there and get ready to play.” #Celtics #Tokyo2020'

So who has even left the team.  We traded Moses Brown who he never played with and Fournier who only played a half a season.  I get Kemba Walker but Al Horford is someone who he played with in 2017 and 2018.  I suspect he was thinking Kemba but really, there is less turn over on this team this season than pretty much any other team (that is what everyone is complaining about).

We lost three starters.

Hmm, we had number of starting line ups, I assume you mean Kemba as a starter (fair) but are you counting Thompson (who we haven't traded yet) and Theis (who was traded months ago)?  Fournier did start 11 games, but is he a "starter"?

Tatum           64
Brown           58
Smart           45
Thompson     43
Walker          43

...are the players that started the most games.  Theis started 39.  If Thompson is traded, then you can start to say the team had some turnover I guess.

come on, EF is definitely a starter.  He started 11/16 games in the regular season (covid) and 5/5 games in the playoffs.  He would have been in the starting lineup this coming year.

Who would he have started over? He can't play the point so it wouldn't be Smart. He can't play Center or Power forward so it wouldn't he TT/Rob Williams/Horford or whoever we have at PF, and he's certainly not starting over Tatum or Brown.

He would have been the first wing off the bench, and we replaced him with Josh Richardson.

Kemba was a defensive sieve who also damaged our team chemistry by sitting out practically every other game to preserve his knee, the same knee that did not manage to hold up for one playoff series. We replaced him with Dunn who is a fantastic defender.

As for Thompson, he was a complete waste of the MLE and should not have been starting last year either. I wish we would have moved him and kept Theis, but either way, it's Rob Williams starting job to lose.

There's no way Tatum is playing PF and there's no way Horford is starting at his age.

Our biggest hole last year and still there so far this offseason is a starting 4. We went with Theis and Rob or TT last year or Grant Williams at the 4, both bad options, but just goes to show you how set we are against playing Tatum at the 4. I expect Stevens to land a legit starter level 4 before the summer is over.

who else on the whole roster would deserve to start more than EF?  seriously?  who is the 5th starter?
Brown can start at the 2 or the 3, Tatum can start at the 3 or the 4.  They will adjust as needed.

Smart / Brown / EF / Tatum / Horford
or

Smart / Brown / EF / Tatum / Timelord

those are the only two starting lineups I could have imagined.

Ainge failed this team last season by leaving glaring holes like this in the roster. I don't expect Stevens to make the same mistake as he was the guy who suffered most from this.

What?  Tatum started 29 games last year at the 4.  Basically after the failed 2 big lineup of Theis and TT was abandoned.
He already is a 4, he has started as a four.

Horford might not start all of the games, that is why I listed Timelord as the other option.

If not Tatum at the 4, who do think is starting for this current roster?  Kornet, Grant W, Jabari???  a player to be determined in free agency (good luck with that)

Honestly, I don't even think we have more than 5/6 legit starters on the roster right now.  Two of them play center - Horford and Timelord.
