Celts interested in Jeff Green and Rudy Gay, per Globe.

I like this, focusing on size and shooting.
i like this..good vets off the bench
I’d honestly rather not sign anyone if they are looking at this guys lol. How underwhelming. Cs certified 8 seed this season since ownership is penny pinching.
How on earth is it better to play Jabari Parker / Grant Williams than quality role-players like Green or Gay??
Because both of those guys are literally ancient and literally targets because they are one year stop gaps?
You're overusing the word literally a bit. Who cares how old they are, they're better players than what we have. How is it that we're adding better players yet, by your logic, regressing to the 8 seed? Explain that one to me.
Also, short-term contracts in order to have the flexibility to pursue a max FA in the next off-season is a totally valid route
Because Jeff Green was born to cause Celtics fans pain. That’s why.
I don’t see how losing a better player in Fournier to sign Jeff effing Green makes the Cs a better team. Cs were a borderline playoff team last year. We think losing better players and signing one year washed up vets is the answer??? This is nothing more than ownership penny pinching and not wanting to go over the luxury tax for second straight year.
You realise they're not mutually exclusive at all, right? We're losing Fournier because his contractual demands are ridiculous, not because we're making way for Jeff Green
His demands are not ridiculous. It’s his market rate. Cs also knew why he was going to cost prior to wasting the Hayward TPE on him. They can literally sign Fournier and sign Jeff Green.
How is it his market rate when there are few suitors for him, with New York being the only one actually mentioned in his desired price range? He is demanding $5m more a season than comparable guys like Joe Harris got.
It's not his market rate if nobody in the market gives it to him. They certainly can sign both, but why would we sign Fournier at that price? It's foolish for someone as flawed as him, especially given his age and pretty significant injury history
How do you know that he has few suitors? Agents and teams talk before FA starts. They have a sense of wht he’s going to get. Same reason why Cs already went out and did plan B. They know lol. It’s not an overpay considering that is what we thought we was going to cost when they traded for him.
Because there is a very limited number of teams with the cap space to sign someone to a $20m year deal. Toronto, New York, Dallas, Miami, San Antonio, OKC and Memphis. Charlotte have about $16m of cap space.
Then, think about the teams with an interest in a guy like Fournier. A #3 option on a solid team. That's pretty much New York, Miami and maybe Dallas. San Antonio, OKC and Toronto are rebuilding, and Memphis don't really have the need for someone like Fournier. For none of those teams would Fournier be a priority. He's not particularly dynamic on offence, he's a mediocre defender, he's nearly 29 and he's had injury problems historically.
What does that even mean? It's an overpay because he is not worth that much money.
