Interesting that our TT trade was quite a bit different to the Plumlee and Favors deals. We didn't send out any picks, received a future 2nd and got the younger players.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised that Thompson still returned positive value, even if just barely.

Especially because he's worse than Plumlee, and arguably worse than Favors

My guess is that it's just a matter of that second year on the contract of Favors and Plumlee.  Still, I don't understand why the Pistons had to pay to trade Plumlee.  He's a low-end starting center on a decent contract.  I would have gladly taken him into our trade exception, especially if we were getting the #37 in return.

I think Brad values the cap flexibility more, though.

I can't agree there's any positive value. Bruno is barely worth a roster spot. Dunn's contract is a negative. Speculation was ATL would have to give two 2nd rounders to trade his contact.

It's garbage for garbage.

I don't think anyone will agree that Kris Dunn at $5m per year is garbage. He can play solid D, and provides the team an option to back up some of Smart's minutes if he is traded.

In addition, they're picking up more financial flexibility with a TPE.

I don’t think Dunn is garbage..injuries has hurt his career but when healthy, he is a great defender and a reliable PG
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

TT was garbage too for what we signed him for.

We got a 2nd rounder and a trade exception.  That's "positive value, even if just barely".

I would have loved Plumlee. He is a fantastic role player. I love his passing. I love his size & athleticism. His defensive effort. Fun guy to watch.

He would've been great behind Horford and alongside him once in awhile in bigger lineups.

So we've turned Kemba Walker, #16 and Tristan Thompson into Al Horford, Moses Brown, Kris Dunn, Bruno Fernando, a future 2nd rounder and a $9.2m TPE, or thereabouts.

Definitely an emphasis on guys who play defence!

It seems like a tougher team but most of the moves are about money.

Also an emphasis on guys with a high probability of being out off the league or on minimum contracts next season ****

Hearing that the Celtics have a list of "seven or eight" free agent targets, including Spurs point guard Patty Mills. ... Discussions between team and Evan Fournier are ongoing, but not close to resolution.

The Dallas Mavericks are finalizing trading G/F Josh Richardson to the Boston Celtics, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Richardson is exercising his $11.6 million player option for the 2021-22 season for the deal.

How? With trade exception?
