Looks like the Celtics are sending Grant Williams, Carson Edwards and a pick to Dallas.

I have not seen this reporter anywhere by Shams.

You know I could have sworn that Shams wrote this article. I don't know who this Quinn guy is.

It appears that the part about Grant Williams and Carson Edwards and the pick has disappeared.

Whatever Brad’s planning, I’m really excited to see the final outcome. Are we even in a position to snag Beal after all these moves??

Likely not this year. But it seems like Brad is gearing the team up to be in a financial position to be a big player in FA next year.

Enjoy Marcus Smart, everyone! I don’t think C’s are keeping him beyond this year, especially if they’re pushing their chips all-in for someone like Beal.

Something big is brewing here. You can feel it coming.
Maybe..We have a GM that either coached or coached against ever player in the NBA this year. He has a hands on fresh perspective. Looking forward this could be his best year as the future GM for the C's.

Hey guys the article has disappeared. I saw this trade in two different places and now it's gone.  Glad I didn't start a new thread.

Hearing that the Celtics have a list of "seven or eight" free agent targets, including Spurs point guard Patty Mills. ... Discussions between team and Evan Fournier are ongoing, but not close to resolution.

Noticing a trend here with these players - versatile, gritty players and tough defenders. Also lots of former Ime players. Would love Patty here.

You’re definitely onto something. Brad is definitely going for guys who have an “edge” to them. I don’t think Fournier fits the description but I could be wrong. But the Udoka hiring makes even more sense (in hindsight) if that’s the culture Brad wants to build.

Quote
"Well, everybody's going to bring different strengths to the table. I think when I talk about edge that can be a number of things,” Stevens said during NBC Sports Boston’s draft special. “It starts with competitiveness, starts with a willingness to do hard things, an unselfishness to do hard things and not necessarily always reap the rewards of the person that gets the headlines, right?

"I think that it's so important that teams are built with people that bring different things to the table and bring a toughness to the table that kind of permeates throughout the team. And so when I talk about edge, you can obviously talk about a physical toughness or mental toughness, grit that you see very easily and others you can also talk about -- like the desire to be a part of something special and represent this place, with kind of that toughness and grit that our fans love.

"And I think that those are things that are going to be important, and are going to be important as we continue to look for the right fits around our team. It’s important that our guys that are back, continue to embrace those things.”

I was kinda happy that Brad was getting rid of our mediocre bench…but apparently not for now.

I saw it too and posted it in the Josh Richardson thread. That would have been a great deal in my opinion. Oh well..

For the Celtics, just hypothetically, who would you have drafted between Moses Moody and Chris Duarte?

I wish this was true but I will believe when I see it.   I doubt we could be that lucky

I think with the moves we've made that our number one priority should be a PF type.

If it is true it means probably Dunn or Smart will be gone. I think Mills could be a good bench option but redundant with Pritchard.

The current status is that we have traded Tristan Thompson for Josh Richardson, Kris Dunn, and Bruno Fernando.  There may be some additional news regarding these trades but it does not appear that we have any other players going out.  The result is that all 15 roster spots are currently filled along with 1 of 2 2-way spots.  We eliminated one Center which is good and I guess we did add a PF.  Here is where we stand

Smart        Dunn                 Pritchard
Brown        Richardson        Edwards
Tatum        Nesmith            Langford
Parker        Fernando           GWilliams
Horford      RWilliams           MBrown

Or something like that.  I have Parker starting at PF over Richardson starting at SG but there are of course other variatinos.  Langford or Nesmith could slot in or maybe Bruno Fernando will have a break out year.

The next move has to be for a PF though I would think.  We can still sign and trade Fournier along with other players to get back a currently signed PF (ideal as then no hard cap) or in a double sign and trade (but then hard capped).  We could also target Ball or another PG upgrade, or both.

By my count, we are about $6M under the apron (the potential hard cap value).  So if we bring in a S&T (like Ball) we would have to send out Smart and/or other salary.  If we do a S&T the other way using Fournier, we could bring back say Myles Tuner and be over the apron but not hard capped (not suggesting Tuner, just providing the example).

I like the Thompson for Dunn + Fernando (and save some money) deal, it gives us something for Thompson, but I don't like the Josh Richardson trade/acquisition if it costs us Fournier and we don't get anything back (even a TPE).  I would have rather just signed Fournier.  Fournier may have a deal he likes and does not want Boston, in which case, grabbing Richardson and maybe still getting a TPE is not a terrible outcome.

Murphy reported we have 7 or 8 guys on our list, with Mills being one of them.
