Goodluck to Walker

But man I'm glad never have to see that NY Yankee hat on the podium

Now we just need a point guard

We need a PG that excels as a distributor instead of a scorer. Ideally someone who can also play D and knockdown an open jumper enough to keep defenses honest

Lonzo?
He'd be a good fit here.

This shocking. I knew it was coming and I'm still shocked!

Because Danny rarely made moves like this. Or its been a long time coming

Brad comes in =  "I'm not scared"

While reading about how Zion is disgruntled with NO management, it was mentioned that Zion has strongly advocated for keeping Lonzo. If they are trying to keep Zion happy, its hard to see them moving Lonzo right now.

I love the trade. Immediately ball movement and passing improve. Not to mention defense and BBIQ. Al had a solid season last year.

We also received a young center in Moses Brown that played pretty well last year too, and at 21 is still growing.

I'm not crazy about Smart starting at PG, it dilutes his true value off the bench. Other than giving Prichard a shot at running the team, they should be looking for a decent PG who can defend. (Not named Edwards.)

Brad is just getting started

who knows what happens to Smart.  He will be a UFA after next season.... just due to this factor, may force Brad to trade him

or keep him for another playoff run attempt

Would GS trade its 14th pick in draft for Smart, if Davion Mitchell were to slide there?

I've been saying this for years - Ish smith would be perfect for this team.  Is quick, plays tenacious defense, can take guys off the dribble and, most importantly, distributes the ball.  And he can probably be had for cheap this year.

It's going to be an awful trade unless Moses Brown becomes the second coming of his namesake (I guess he has the rebounding down already?).

Tough to sell to a fan base that wants its team to get bigger.

Horford was quite good last year when he played, though he's more of a 25-minute guy at this point in his career.  And that's fine... he should pair well with Williams, who appears to struggle handling big minutes anyway.  And he's a good guy for Williams to learn from.

Moses Brown doesn't interest me much.  Rebounder and that's it.  Otherwise he's a no-skill big who hurts his team on both ends of the court.  At least he's cheap.

Wonder if next coach tries playing Al at the 4.  Failed in Philly, but he does stretch floor pretty well, better than Theis IMO.

What does this mean for Jabari Parker?

Don't like the deal.  Trading 16 hurts.  This is not a top team in the East.  I'm normally a lot more positive but I just don't see how this deal makes us better.  Moses Brown is a long term backup and insurance if Timelord gets hurt.  Not a bad piece but not worth a 1st round pick.  I was really hoping the C's would draft a PG with 16.

More deals to be made.  They can resign Evan now if he wants to be here and probably use one of the lower level exceptions to sign a vet.

No assets to trade for a start like Beal. just a disappointing deal IMO.  If it was a lottery protected pick next year I'd be happier.  This is supposed to be a deep draft.  Hopefully the C's can buy a pick if a guy falls.

I have zero care about draft picks at this point

Celtics have gone to the ECF something like 3 times in the past 5 seasons.  We already have two stars under 25, as well as a number of talented young prospects with upside (Pritchard, Williams, Nesmith).

This team does not need to waste more time struggling whole we wait for another batch of young guys to become dependable.  We need to start competing.

Last season the team's defence and ball movement were utterly garbage.  Moving Kemba for horford immediately improves the team in both of those areas... Especially if it also means moving Smart to the starting PG spot.

If we can retain Fournier then we're potentially looking at a strong five of Smart, Fournier, Brown, Tatum and Williams with Pritchard, Langford, Nesmith, Horford and Moses coming in off the bench.  Then I expect we'll probably see another move out two to bring one or two solid productive guys to add to that second unit.

I think that's a more cohesive unit then what we had last season, and horford/ Moses provide some nice insurance for Williams who has been quite injury prone.

If nothing else we desperately needed a veteran presence in the locker room after how things were going this season. Al is a guy who the younger flows should respect and listen to.

That could be interesting

TBH I don't think Smart will return a pick that high

Al can't play PF anymore.  No where near quick enough.

Lonzo's a little older now, hopefully that hovering Dad stuff is in the past.  And we haven't heard much about him and Charlotte management.  Just from a basketball standpoint he'd be a great fit - a talented pass-first PG who's young.
