Great news, welcome back Al Horford, good chance that he will help with the chemistry. Intrigued by Moses Brown, wasn't really interested in anyone at #16.

Horford is still overpaid but IMO that's real value for Kemba.

GOOD MORNING!!!!

Big Al is back home!

I like this move. I liked Kemba too but think we all saw the writing on the wall there. This trade makes sense. Cs get a stretch big and good defender in Horford and a project young big in Brown. So basically means another move is coming with either TL or TT since we have too many bigs right now.

It helps that the final year of Horford's deal is only partially guaranteed.

I’m good with it.  I miss Horford, and Marcus can run point.

I’m curious about Moses Brown.  He put up some crazy numbers at times.

I think he put up a 20/20 game against us this year.

Well, he put up 20/20 in the first half and then basically got shut out the 2d half.

Any deal for an expensive guy with bad knees is a good deal.

They never replaced Horford. An example of Danny's weakness in trading and FAs. He wasn't flexible enough.

Al is a few years older, but he's an important piece up front. At least he's healthy.

stunned.  just absolutely stunned.

have to check into Brown to see what he is as a player but thought we'd do better than shipping out Kemba and a first and a second for another overpaid player that's coming to the end of his career and a prospect.  Really appreciated Al when he was here but he's not what he once was.    agree with many here that another shoe is likely to drop regarding either TT or TL having to be moved.

Be interesting to see the next move(s). I thought that 1st round pick was going to be used as part of a deal to bring someone in thru the TPE. Not anymore.

Well that is interesting.

I actually like Moses Brown, makes giving up the 1st a little more palatable.

So current roster

PG - Pritchard, Edwards
SG - Smart, Langford
SF - Brown, Nesmith
PF - Tatum, Parker, G. Williams
C - R. Williams, Horford, Thompson, Brown

Unsigned F.A. - Fournier, Ojeleye, Kornet

Way too many centers and gaping hole at PG.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I like Horford. I don't like the trade.

Most deals happen on draft night/at the deadline for a reason. Teams are unwilling to lower their asking price prior to the draft night unless they are desperate to make a trade. It's when they run out of time on draft night that they finally compromise regarding their asking price. To put it another way, trade negotiations are like the game of chicken. Whomever backs down first loses the game. The C's backed down way too early and they got fleeced. Our rookie GM made a rookie mistake. I miss Danny already.

I didn't realize teams could make trades now. I was thinking trades couldn't happen until the Finals were over.

Well this feels like a backwards step.

Shouldn't we be looking for the next Al Horford? A 20-25yr old player who can step in and be part of the long term picture instead of a 30+yr old Horford who is steadily in decline.

This feels more like patchwork GMing than long term / sustainable building / forward momentum.

I liked big Al, he may be a good option with Timelord unhealthy. But I don't understand why we couldn't wait... First we don't have the coach advice and mostly Horford probably wouldn't have been traded for a while, so we could wait for better options for Kemba (like dumping all his salary for youth and create room to sign a better FA contract... We take almost a discount of 10 milion each of the next two years. May be the occasion to resign Fournier. But personally I wanted a biggest shake up; now we are

Whaterver, the rumors were probably true, even if most here didn't believe Kemba was a real question for this team. The first Stevens decision is judging very bad the last Ainge's choice : we give assets to sign a 2 years older Horford, what we didn't want, just to take the contract of Ainge last big signing. Really thought Walker wasn't seen so baddly? Maybe they were better to do in waiting a little. I still prefer it at the Porzingis as his contract is lower and 1 year less, still giving option for 2023 FA.

Our defense will get better, but our ballhandling and creation is frightnening. Smart/Pritchard as our only PG's is really weak, esp with their style of game.

I think you jump when you can!  I also think, the C's have a coach and probably ran this by that person, or had a player run it by them since they could be called out for tampering.

As for the trade, hate seeing #16 go but getting Brown is intriguing.  In 43 games, 32 started, he averaged 21 MPG with 9RPG and 9PPG.

In other words, he's a 40/40 guy on a per 48 minute basis!! (green goggles)
