He's mistaken actual Basketball Fans, who don't like Players who give up on their teams in the freaking playoffs, for Racists...what a TOOL.

Just standard modern day woke culture really.  If there's anything you don't agree with, call it racist.

Math? Racist.
Science? Racist.
Wealthy people? Racist.
Supporting free speech? Racist.

Welcome to 2021.

Over the past year or so, Brown and Tatum, have been at the forefront of representing the team in regards to the BLM movement. This was especially true for Jaylen. Does their silence on Kyrie’s remarks confirm what he said? Or are they afraid of losing their status in the BLM movement if they disagree with Kyrie?

Not only are the Nets embarrassing the Celtics on the court, but now they’re (Kyrie and Durant) also mocking the city your representing. At some point, if they’re the leaders of the team, Tatum and Brown need to speak up.

Would love to see Jaylen step up here.  Something along the lines of - "We know there's issues here in Boston that need to be addressed.  And we also know the issue of race exists in many other places.   But calling out Boston just because the fanbase doesn't like you anymore does a great disservice to the movement."

It's very hard to call out a guy with obvious mental illness in this day and age without looking like a bully.

Not just a bully....a subtly racist bully

I think Boston kinda has that image all over the world?

Google the phrase “Most racist city,” and Boston pops up more than any other place, time and time again.

Or to put it differently; I've gotten eyerolls for saying I was a Boston fan before.

True or not, that's the image the city has.

Does not bode well for the future of this team one bit.

Yeah, hadn't considered this part until just now but, fair call.

What does not bode well for which team?

The state of modern day agriculture in Spanish colonies.

.edit: pardon the joke - we're talking about Boston's image. Doesn't help in attracting free agents. Which is already an issue due to climate/culture.

In the past 5 years we have effectively signed three all-stars in Al Horford, Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker (sign and trade, so basically a sign).  All those guys came to Boston by choice, which is something not many other teams have managed.

Kyrie (the very person making this criticism) also apparently put Boston on his final shortlist of teams that he was open to being traded to, and for some time insisted he had every intention of re-signing here.  Not sure whether the latter had any truth to it or was total garbage, but either way doesn't sound like he was so concerned about "racism" then.

Kyrie is just a deuchebag.  Simple as that.  Far as I can tell he is probably the single biggest headcase in the entire NBA.  Between flat earth theories, not being able to get along with teammates, not being able to decide if he wants to be the #1 guy or not, randomly deciding not to play long stretches of games for "personal reasons", attacking media when they criticise him for saying dumb things, throwing teammates under the bus while he's not even playing, and now throwing "racism" accusations at a team that he personally tried to force his way to only a few years prior....if the guy wasn't in the NBA he'd be institutionalised.

Let's not confuse mental illness with stupidity and rudeness.

There's tens of millions of people with mental illness that are intelligent, informed, well spoken people that treat others well. Kyrie's views, thoughts, comments and the way he deals with people aren't because he has a mental illness. It's because he is an idiot and an asshat

I can save everyone time and energy - Kyrie Irving is a narcissistic jerk who's been coddled his entire life. And it's not a matter of context or mental illness - he's plenty bright and thoughtful enough to have some insight, he's just more than willing to gaslight for personal attention.  That's the meanest type of person.

He has some kind of manic depressive type of ailment like Kayne West has. He's Mr. Wonderful one minute and down and out the next. He's overly positive then overly negative the next. I'm not saying this as an insult. His mood swings are much more than the normal swing of mood. He is also an asshat but he has some kind of strange personality disorder. He's Kemba-like sometimes and then he's refusing to talk to anyone or has to take unexplained time off.

What would Kyrie say about this:
"Sixers fan ejected after dumping popcorn on Wizards’ Russell Westbrook"

What would Kyrie say about this:

What would he have said about the Sixer fan that Cedric Maxwell went into the stands to slug?

I've heard some fans say some racist stuff inside the Garden (in the cheap seats, not anywhere near courtside). I've heard people say racist stuff outside the Garden. There are some pretty trash people out there, and some of them happen to be Celtics supporters.

Not that you imply otherwise, but every fan base has its trash.  I’ve seen racism in Boston (Southie in particular).  I’ve seen way more of it in other place where I’ve spent time, like Charleston, Atlanta, Houston and Orlando.  Hell, even an extremely progressive place like Portland, OR was surprisingly anti-Asian and anti-gay when I lived there (early 90s).

There are a lot of meatheads or just downright bad people, no matter where you go.  (As an aside, the most racist place I’ve ever been, by far, was South Africa.  )

Does that include the brutality currently being carried out
by blacks on whites in South Africa since the end of Apartheid ?

Kyrie just keeps on attacking Boston, The Celtics, The Fans like he's somehow the injured party. He is really giving Boston a bad name for getting him out of a bad situation that he created in Cleveland.

Wasn't "Do the Right Thing" filmed in Brooklyn?

So Kyrie, what exactly is the difference between racism and subtle racism ?

The former must be a reference to clear-cut attitudes and language that demean a person based solely on their race. The latter (subtle) is anything Kyrie sees or hears that he decides to label as racist behavior, most of which are illegitimate claims and lies.

I realize you don't actually want an answer to this question, but in case someone reading is curious and wants a very simplified version of the difference:

1. Having hiring practices that explicitly forbid hiring someone of a given race is overt racism.
2. Having hiring practices that will effectively prevent the hiring of someone of a given race is subtle (or covert) racism.

I would be wary, perhaps, of ridiculing something just because a player you don't like talked about it.

Do you understand the concept of a rhetorical question ?

Let's not forget that KD was egging him on during that press conference. KD has really become one of my most disliked people, which is a shame since he's a lot of fun to watch as a basketball player.

Quote
Asked if he’d had racist comments directed at him while playing in Boston, Irving implied he and others had.

“I’m not the only one that can attest to this. But it’s just … it won’t …,” Irving said, with a resigned laugh. He threw his hands up and added, “It is what it is.”

At that point, a voice off-camera chimed in, “The whole world knows it.” To which Irving agreed, “The whole world knows it.”

Some have suggested that voice belonged to Kevin Durant, who was nearby and followed on the next Zoom call.
