2nd bonehead move by Cousins in the series. Guy doesn't even know the rules.

Even so, that's on the coach as well... on plays like that you need to make sure your player is aware of those details.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Unless I hear it in a quote from Cousins after the game, there's no way I believe these guys don't know the rules.  It's not that rare of a situation.

When watching it, my first thought was Cousins was trying to hit it off the backboard so it would then hit the front of the rim, and he just missed.

Watching it again, I still feel that way, he just did it too hard. (Not that watching the replay makes it conclusive either way, but examining it did nothing to sway my original opinion).

Hoping the same standard is applied to our coach next season

Chris Paul

1 game away from his first Finals. CP3 smells blood and he's not going to let go now!

It's one thing for something to occur in the moment, but you're on a deadball situation and probably getting instructions from the coach on what to do (miss on purpose), you very [dang] well should remind your players of the important details.

Like coaches need to keep reminding players at end of games "NO FOULS", but there's always that bonehead that does it anyways.

That all said, looking at the replay it doesn't seem like he's unaware of the rules like bdm860 said, as soon as the whistle was blown he knew what happened... he wasn't dumbfounded, just "missed".

Missing on purpose but hitting the rim in a way that gives you more of a chance for the rebound is a lot harder than it looks. I don't think most guys ever practice that either.

If we're expecting our coach to teach our guys really basic rules like free throw violations then we're in heaps of trouble
