Im hoping the Warriors would upset the Fakers for the 7th seed.

I want LA to face the Jazz and get an old fashioned smackdown...if the Fakers get 7th seed im afraid they will make history bu being the first 7th seed to beat a top 2 seed.
The only way the Lakers do not win a 1st round series is if they lose their next 2 games.

Well this didn’t turn out like you thought.

Just a bit.

Unless my memory is really going, this is the first NBA Finals since Lakers/Celtics 2010 that won't feature either James or Curry.

Not to mention that all the teams remaining, with the exception of the Mavs, have either never won a championship or haven't won a championship in over 35 years.

No more Lakers, no more false GOAT stories. Such a great day!

Ah yes, because Davis getting hurt again was a guaranteed thing.  The Lakers were up 2-1 and were rolling until Davis went down.  They didn't win again.  Injuries always change the outlook of a series.  I would have picked the Suns to win if Davis was ruled out before the series began because the Lakers need Davis to be that team (they probably could have gotten by a few teams, but the Suns are balanced and deep and a bad match-up for the Davis less Lakers).

I picked the Sixers to beat the Hawks as well, but if Embiid can't go that changes that series.  Injuries aren't predictable and alter a lot.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah, it was completely unpredictable that Anthony Davis, who missed 50% of the regular season, might miss 50% of a series.  Also, I believe you predicted a sweep.

CP3 isn't exactly healthy either. And rolling isn't exactly a right term as the first 2 games were neck and neck. There is no excuse for Lebron to be totally obliterated even without AD. The last 2 games were abysmal for the Lakers and LeGM is apparently shamelessly statpadding in garbage time.

I did, probably would have been 5 had Davis not gotten hurt.  Game 4 was like a 1 point game when Davis left.  I firmly believe the Lakers would have won that game and then closed it out in 5.  Injuries happen.  Injuries change outcomes.

My mistake.  I flagged your prediction when it was made to see what would happen when you were wrong.  But I didn't realize you weren't wrong.  Ooops.

Are we supposed to dismiss the fact that Chris Paul was injured too in the series? He still figured out a way to play, but was clearly not the same player. The two games the Lakers won, were the two that Chris Paul was the most effected by his shoulder injury. The better team ended up winning the series, so I say the injuries evened themselves out.

Amazingly enough, that was the first time LeBron has ever lost in the first round.

Could you imagine buying tickets to that game last night, and the game was essentially over before the end of the first quarter? Booker was straight fire and had a killer mindset on closing out the series last night. His dunk towards the end of the game almost caused a riot, as the Lakers didn't like that.

what are you talking about?  obviously the Lakers did not win the series as I thought they would, but they also lost their 2nd best player and the 2nd best player in that series.  That stuff matters.  The Lakers had no shot at beating the Suns without Davis because they need Davis, both for their own team but in particular in that match-up.  And they need Davis far more than the Suns need Paul, though Paul was still able to play.  That also matters.  The Suns are a young deep team.

If you did a draft of the teams (without Davis and a banged up Paul), Lebron would go first, but Suns would have at least the next 4.  Booker, Paul, Ayton, and Bridges and you might even take Crowder before Schroder (and while you wouldn't take someone like Payne over Schroder, Payne was clearly a far better player in the series).  Davis not playing changed everything about that series.

I am so excited the Lakers lost!
Now I can go all in on the BEAT THE NETS chant.

I was holding on that thinking the Nets would be the last line of defense against another Laker title....but now that they are gone

I hope the Bucks win it all.  I love how Gianis stayed in Milwaukee and didn’t join his “buddies” somewhere else.

I'm with you.  I'm pulling for the Bucks.  Did it the hard way; combination of shrewd drafting and trades. Not a bunch of superstars deciding they want to play together.  Underrated front office there.

I am pulling for Utah to win the title.

But yeah, I am liking the way you are looking at the East. I am pulling for Milwaukee to beat Brooklyn and Co. I hate Brooklyn.

Looks like Lakers are winning the title this year lol. Just stole home court advantage from Phoenix. Expect them to sweep the rest of the series. Clippers are dead, they were the only team capable to stopping LeBron James. I don't see anyone else in the West beating him.

Commiserations, hope you're not taking the loss too hard.

Lol, nah. I'm glad they're out! I used all my voodoo magic on them and it worked  ;)
