This was a really good first weekend of playoff basketball.  I have to say though, I'm feeling jealousy for fans of teams like the Hawks, Grizz, etc right now because those teams are playing their best ball, with pretty much healthy rosters, and sparking conversations in podcasts / on social media etc about how bright their future is, how well the teams have done constructing the roster, etc.

Not so long ago that was the Celtics! Here we are with a team down one of our best players (again) in the playoffs, staring down a rapidly approaching off-season where the mood around the team is going to be anxiety and frustration, with the conversation being who is going to get traded and how are they going to fix the roster.  Not to mention that the Celts are basically in cap hell right now and we're all gonna be arguing about the luxury tax and whether it should matter for how the team tries to add talent .... which is just not fun.

I don't want to spend the next ~6 months dwelling on how the Celts are going to get back to being a team with a bright future that makes you feel good instead of frustrated.  But it is what it is.

When’s the last time an 8 upset a 1...Warriors back in the day against the Mavs? If Mitchell doesn’t come back close to 100% I can see Memphis taking out Utah.
Nobody really see Jazz as a legit championship contenders.

A lot of people are foolish then.  They need Mitchell back, but assuming he makes it back with little limitation, I’m picking them out of the West.
Same. It's ridiculous to not rate the Jazz. Amazingly good shooting team, balanced offensive output from an All-Star back-court, the best defensive player in the NBA, two 6MOY candidates. They're so balanced.
But they don't have true top end talent.  Their best players are in the top 20 range and that just isn't good enough.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Well, it's all about one's current mood, isn't it?  I've mostly stopped watching games and I feel pretty darn good about a core of Tatum/Brown/R-Will. What other team has a better young trio?  I'm too lazy to look it up, but it ain't the Hawks or the Grizz.  It's too bad I have to sacrifice watching games to feel better.   :-\

Does any playoff team have a worse bench than us? Danny needs to build around the core. Watching the playoffs makes me realize, even more, how bad a job Danny has done with the Celtic Bench.

On the long list of things the Celts really need, "bench guy who can randomly go off and win you a game by himself unexpectedly" is definitely one of them.

Bryn Forbes is fun.

I'd love to see this Bucks team keep on rolling.

The Bucks have a really good/deep/balanced team. Hope they give the Nets a run for their money next round. Surprised the Bucks were able to get Forbes for only a couple of million per year. He’s an undrafted player, had been in the league for 4 years and makes less than Grant Williams.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Fixed it for you. And the answer is No. it’s shameful.

Presumably, Pritchard and Nesmith were signed to eventually provide that kind of offensive injection.

Unfortunately, like most of the guys on our bench, we're waiting for something they might become two or three years from now.  It is what it is.

With the 14th pick, you're hoping to get a starter not a bench player.

We'll see. You've gone into this debate a number of times with other posters, and there's only one way to find out - let them play the games. If the formula was so perfect why would they even play?

Bucks 89-59 over Miami. Dang, that is a beat down.

Miami are about to be down 0-2. Hard to come back from this.
