The Athletic put out a 2-round mock today that has the C’s taking Daishen Nix at 45.  Would not be my favorite pick, personally.

No 2-round mock from Givony in some time.  Last year he had the Celtics picking Yam at 47 for multiple mocks, so keep an eye out for when he drops his mock presumably in the next few days.

He projected Yam to Celtics? Wow.

Yeah, it’s the only reason I knew who Yam was prior to the draft because I’d looked up the random Euro player we were mocked.

Yam made a big jump from last year to this. I thought he was just going to be a defender when we drafted him.

Preston is really growing on me. He has one of those great old man games. Looks like a Spurs player.

"Preston is a tall lead guard who doesn’t blow you away with speed or athleticism but really knows how to run an offense and control the pace of play.

He’s a very crafty player with great ball handling ability and a nice ability to use his big frame to shield the defender and get to his spots. Preston can score the ball and is a deadly 3pt shooter but he’s very much a pure point guard who’s at his best facilitating and setting up his teammates.

His smarts and BBIQ are evident on defense where he makes up for his lack of speed by playing with great positioning and anticipation.

At this point he looks like more of a second round pick but is getting some first round buzz.

Preston looks like the lost Ball brother in some ways with his game.

Same for me. Literally the only reason I did any sort of film watching on Yam last year was because of Givony.

Givony posted the 15 player who have been invited to the green room

Cade Cunningham
Jalen Green
Evan Mobley
Jalen Suggs
Jonathan Kuminga
Scottie Barnes
Davion Mitchell
James Bouknight
Keon Johnson
Franz Wagner
Josh Giddey
Jalen Johnson
Corey Kispert
Moses Moody
Kai Jones

He also posted that he expects 5 more invite and that they are going to come out of the following players based on the GM survey

Ziaire Williams
Cam Thomas
Sharife Cooper
Usman Garuba
Alperen Sengun
Trey Murphy
Isaiah Jackson
Jared Butler
Chris Duarte

For the sake of argument Ill assume that all 9 of those players go first round, Butler's health makes him the likely one to fall.

I took those 24 players off my big board and the Isiah Todd who is rumored to have a first round promise but isnt on Givony's list. Below is essentially a 27 player board of players who are not a "lock" to go in the first round.

1   J Springer

2   J Christopher
3   Nah'Shon Hyland

4   G Brown
5   Boston
6   T Mann
7   Q Grimes
8   McBride
9   JT Thor

10   H Jones
11   Josh Primo
12   Bassey
13   Prkacin
14   Dosunmu
15   J Ayayi
16   David  Johnson
17   Joe Wisekamp
18   Kessler Edwards

19   Daishen Nix
20   Marcus Zagarowski
21   David Duke
22   AJ Lawson
23   Jason Preston
24   Sharpe
25   Queta

That's a good job putting together that list. The guys who could fall to 45 that I'd really like are Queta, Peston, Wieskamp, Kessler Edwards, Sandro Mamukelashvil. I also like Marcus Garrett who might just go undrafted altogether.

My take away from Givonys list, the Todd speculation, and Ayayi promise speculation (that I didn’t include in my break down) is that Springer has a long shot chance of slipping. If he goes after 20 I will be really disappointed if the Cs don’t try to trade up for him.

After that my focus would be Wings. Gambles like Brown or Boston might fall or a more consistently projected in the 2nd prospect like Jones, Wieskamp or Kessler

With the amount of talent in this draft trading up to the start of the 2nd makes some sense and I still think a high-quality 1st round pick will fall to the 45th pick.

BJ Boston would be a classic Ainge pick if he were still around. Top level high school talent that didn’t show off at UK. Was it the player, the system, or the season? I think Danny takes that risk.

I think Yam is as good as T Mann. There are some high upside point guards in this draft, but if Yam came out this year I think he’d slot around 28-35. Whoever’s around at 45 is basically a crapshoot, so I am not falling in love with any of the 2nd rounders, but there are some intriguing prospects that could fall.

I would actually prefer to see who we can move to make room for a 2nd round pick.

Could Carson Edwards/Grant Williams and 45 move us into the top of round 2 range? Get a high potential non-guaranteed player at 35-36?

Both the Thunder and Pelicans have 2 picks/ea from 34-38.  I would target them.

Looks like we need a PG as of right now if Mader can’t come
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
