Yeah, I put this more on Stevens and the overall roster construction (Ainge) than I do on Theis. Theis was great for the role he filled and did the best he could. He's a good player and a solid one in this league.

I mean it's not like Theis himself blackmailed Stevens and forced him to play over Timelord in the Heat series. CBS could have put Theis on the bench a bit more then. And if he didn't feel Timelord was ready, then again that's more of a roster issue than Theis. Numerous chances to make an in-season addition last season (including for depth) and they didn't make one.

Again, Theis was fine for the role he played and it's not like he's a scrub.

Brad told Sean Grande that he was blindsided by the Theis trade. Apparently Theis was the one telling everyone where to go on D. I guess Danny forgot to tell him

Stevens told Celtics radio play-by-play announcer Sean Grande that he was caught “completely off guard” by the Theis trade, which was reported minutes after the deadline, expressing that he’ll miss Theis’ defense and more.

“I think obviously losing Daniel was really tough,” Stevens told reporters prior to Friday’s game against the Bucks. “I think Daniel’s been one of our best defenders the last couple of years on a team that has really struggled to defend.

“We’re going to have to have other people step up. It’s time for everybody to be their best on that end, and I think that that is the number one thing for this team; when you lose a communicator like that, a guy that can direct your defense from the backline, and a guy that is going to play hard on each and every possession, that’s going to be something that we’re going to have to make up for. So that is not insignificant.”

I guess his German replacement Moritz is a pretty eager communicator at least...assuming he even knows what to communicate at this point  :police:

Well, given our defense this year... maybe Danny knew after all ;D

I always thought that personnel decisions were collectively decided upon by Danny, Brad, and ownership. It’s not the case apparently.

he played hard and never complained and did well for a small built guy .  He played out of position IMO . At any rate he played way above what I expected .  Teams seemed to attack him ,    Because he was smallish .  It doesn’t go so easy with TimeLord in the game,  he is in there getting to shots and swatting junk away . I don’t like water bug ball ,  hopefully Danny stops withe the Edwards types .

I really, really don’t get threads like these. Theis was a guy randomly plucked from some European league who was immediately better than advertised, always gave it his all despite being undersized and getting a bad whistle, and started on numerous playoff teams here.

So someone makes a thread to crap on him right as he’s traded?? C’mon... if anyone told us 4 years ago what we’d get from this random German we’d all have been thrilled!
