If Kornet was a throw in. This is big

We now have a guy who can guard Boban, Jokic, Embiid type monsters ... not shutdown but better than undersized bigs getting elbowed to the face

Tacko should see some more mins also

Mo might've been the throw in....

I definitely assumed that Kornet was included too offset Theis' incoming salary for CHI, and that Mo was the target; but I guess we'll find out for sure when one of them gets cut in the coming days/weeks for a buy-out.

I’d cut edwards.  He’s worthless

I totally agree.  Edwards offers nothing.  All his potential minutes should go to Nesmith, Langford, or Waters.  Keep Kornet.

I also agree.  Keep the bigs and cut Edwards.

Even though his salary is small, there is just no way we are going to cut Edwards' now and eat his salary for next year when we have other 3rd string expirings on the roster. The Cs probably have an idea of who'd they like to keep between Wagner/Kornet, so we will see if they deem anybody worthy of a buy-out signing. If not, seems like kind-of a waste to dump Theis for two worse players who are also expiring. The plan in trading Theis has to be a buy-out.

I could see the Celtics stretching Edwards over 5 years.  The hit would be $360k a year.  There’s also a bigger chance that a tanking team like Houston might take a flyer on Edwards and claim him that there is with Kornet. (Not a big chance, just bigger than Kornet.)

Where are all those Kornet haters????

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
if you are talking about those posters who had questions ("hate" is hyperbole and too often tossed about as a word here) about his skills and abilities because his career to date shows he has serious flaws....

we are all still here.  ;D

and if kornet works out and defies his past performance, we will all cheer him on over a dish of nicely broiled crow.  ;D

so, let's watch him and see how he does beyond a handful of minutes as a celtic.

I was just joking' see all the smile faces. There weren't really any Kornet haters on here....

And he’s had a few of those here and there.

Maybe we've entered a Bizarro world (Seinfeld) of bigs where everything is in reverse size?

As of right now, need to keep him.  Thin on the guard department

He had a good game yesterday. And has been better hitting shots/open shots

My understanding was that his team option also had a non-guaranteed 4th year to it (similar to Semi and Demetrius Jackson), meaning the Celtics could pick up the option and stretch him before it guarantees, thus stretching next year's salary of ~$1.8 million over 5 years rather than 3.  That said, I can find nothing at this minute that either confirms or denies this assumption, and I don't remember where I first saw it (presumably July 2019 when he signed, which was another lifetime ago.)

I agree; Edwards has simplified game, and mixes his 3 point shooting with aggressive attacks to the hoop. He is an elite athlete, just lacks size. As long as he can defend reasonably, if he continues to play this way, he could garner some interest in the off season, even if a protected 2nd round pick.  I hope he finds a role for some team somewhere.

Brad Stevens can now experiment with a bigger line-up,  Starting line-up of Smart/(Pritchard),Brown,Tatum,Kornet & TL, size and shooting is there.. coming off the bench  Walker,Fournier,Grant,MoSwag, Thompson..

The roster has much better balance now. We can go super big and still go with smaller line ups with TIMELORD and 4 shooters around him. It's a better mix. It's also just better if Brad can trust everyone on the roster to play if needed come playoff time. I truly believe that not having players he trusted and enough players kept us out of the finals last year.

I don't see Brad doing major experimenting at this point. He used Wagner and Kornet because Thompson is out and, as was painfully obvious in Milwaukee, Tacko is not an NBA caliber player and is quite unplayable.

Once Thompson, Langford and Fournier return the rotation is most likely:

Kemba, Brown, Fournier, Tatum and Timelord to start

Smart, Pritchard, Thompson, Semi, Grant and maybe either Langford or Nesmith.

I don't see Wagner or Kornet getting regular rotational minutes once the team is healthy. Heck, Langford and/or Nesmith might not be in the rotation.

Lots of home games. Team getting healthy. Time to shorten the rotation and rack up a bunch of wins. Experimentation time is over.

Kornet is at least 5or 6 inches taller than Thompson or TIMELORD. I think he has his uses against big centers. He can also stretch the floor better than either of those guys. He just brings a whole other skill set.
