Collins + Bogs
That would be an awesome result

What do we send out?  Smart, Thompson and pick(s) or what?

I don't get why Atlanta signed Gallinari.  Had they already decided to move on from Collins?  It seems like it would have been a lot easier to just overpay for Collins.  I guess this way they can overpay for Gallinari and also have whatever they can trade Collins for.

I am not sure we want add the salary for Bogs and also then have to overpay for Collins unless you know for sure you can move Kemba without taking back even more salary.  Bogs is 18M, Collins will be $20M+ likely.  I am not even sure either of these players are good.
I think that's the kind of rumour that has been swirling. Atlanta are reportedly interested in Smart.

I think the Hawks just wanted to spend money. Boggy didn't really make sense to me given they had Huerter and Reddish at the same position. They overpaid for Rondo too. Gallinari especially didn't make sense because Collins and Hunter are really strong prospects.

That's a good point about Kemba. It would be incredibly risky to make this move without having him off the books. Could look to the Knicks. This deal works financially: https://tradenba.com/trades/UQN9lhpLK
I haven't included any picks, because I didn't want to think too hard about it, but that would give us a significant amount of money off the books next year to retain Collins without it being too much of a headache. FYI, I'm very high on Collins and think he's got All-Star talent.

Given what we've seen guys like Bogdanovic get paid, I could easily see Smart getting offered some bloated $20m a year deal. I'd rather pay Collins a lot than Smart a lot

Trade Kemba for Barnes + expiring(s)

I'm down with this deal, but I prefer Holmes to Bjelica in it, as that lets us to take back the salaries with the Hayward TPE and get a Kemba TPE large enough for Beal this summer.
I'd absolutely love that deal! I just tried to keep it as realistic as possible for SAC and ORL.

Not sure whether we'd create a bigger TPE. Correct me if I'm wrong, but ORL would still have to match Kemba's salary. Why would we get a new TPE?

In any case, Holmes would be a great fit in our system. I bet he'd be starter for us.

If Danny's trade proposals are similar to the ones proposed here, then that might explain why we haven't seen a trade in years.

At the very least they have complementary skillset and don't have history. Both are clean slates, capable of bigger roles.

Not every year you come across a trade package like that.

We get the TPE because each team constructs the trade in a way that fits them best.  So we can use the Hayward TPE to take Barnes and Holmes, because they both fit under it (I think Holmes might even fit into the Kanter TPE, but that doesn’t matter for this exercise).  That means that we’re trading Kemba and not taking back any players for his salary, so we could get a TPE for him of $34.4 million, large enough for Beal (or any free agent next summer with 9 or fewer years of experience).

This is also why I’m in favor of Kemba to Chicago for Porter Jr. and anything else Chicago is willing to give us, but I like yours more because it assumes that Orlando actually wants Kemba, which there is ample reason to believe might be true.

To shed bad contracts and put ourselves in a better situation for free agency.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. TP!

Fwiw, I posted a Porter+Markkanen for Kemba trade idea in a Bulls forum. Literally nobody liked it. :P Some of them wouldn't even take Kemba's contract for free (assuming they had cap space). I mean, can you blame them?

Trade Grant Wiliams for the Ice Capades.  They would have more value.  JK

For a guy who provides elite 3 point shooting and can play fairly reliable defence you really dislike the guy. I don't think Grant is the problem. He just shouldn't be as relied upon as he is

I'd settle for Stevens and Ainge both being shown the door.

It's not really "elite" when the only time he shoots are when he's totally left alone or in garbage time.

How do either of those things (which are neither particularly true nor relevant) change his shooting percentage?
