Get rid of the nerds. It seems like the team plays a style dictated by analytics, which has taken away the players natural feel for the game. I remember a few years ago, Tatum was taking a lot of mid-range shots, and almost seemed automatic. However, analytics dictated those were bad shots, and he should instead make those 3’s instead. Well, now all he seemingly takes are 3’s, and is further away from the rim and doesn’t go to the line as nearly as much as he should. I also question if the analytics part of it, is dictating how Brad Stevens is able to coach the game. Does he really want his players to shoot so many 3’s?

I don’t think analytics say don’t drive to the basket, and I don’t think Stevens coaches that, either.

Rumors I hve read is a young player and 1st round pick for collins.  If it takes a second #1 pick I'd still do it.  I do not add smart for any reason.  He is nearly as untouchable as the jays in my mind due to his D, leadership, grit, and reasonable salary.  PP and RW3 are next most untouchable.

So... what are you offering? No one is giving us their good players for our scraps. It's just not realistic. According to reports, Atlanta countered with a deal built around Jaylen Brown when we inquired about Collins... They're not giving him away, they'd do better keeping him and matching an offer sheet (because the will having matching rights) than taking a deal built around throwaways.

Romeo and nesmith and thompson for Bogdanovic, and 2 firsts for collins into the TPE from kanter.  Our last 2 lotto picks plus next 2 firsts for a RFA and decent SG.  Probably an over pay, but one I am willing to make.  ALternatively the recent rumor for Aron Gorden and Evan Fournier is also intriging.  As I have said, everything is on the table for these 4 except JT, JB, MS, PP, and RW3.  That is my future core.

...Aaron Gordon.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll say it again here: There are two deal structures I like:

2 firsts & a youngster for Aaron Gordon, or

Kemba for Aaron Gordon & Evan Fournier.

There are more details to be worked out but I something that looks like either of those deals would make me really excited.

Right, I think many people have complained that the Celtics don't play enough of an analytical style.

Analytics would suggest the team should be hunting for free throws and three point attempts.

The Celts aren't near the top of the league in either category.

Yeah, my biggest complaint about the way the team plays is that they don't attack the basket and get to the FT line enough, which is exactly what the nerds say should be done.

For him to step down or fire half the coaching, scouts and training staff. The team chemistry and development of the players is garbage. They keep blaming covid but every team is dealing with covid. Someone needs to take accountability for the last two years of regression.

What I want from Danny is to move any player before the deadline, if that is becoming a free agent this summer and Ainge feels that player will not be brought back. So:

Daniel Theis
Jeff Teague
Semi Ojeleye
Javonte Green.

If they aren't going to be brought back, package them and picks and get someone that is an upgrade and will be around next year.
This has been my complaint on DA his whole tenure. He never deals guys at deadline who are expiring. According to him not enough value in it. I absolutely hate it because most walk away for nothing.

If we could get Gordon and Fournier, shed Kemba and keep Smart, that would be a massive accomplishment. Wouldn't even consume the TPE. Even better if we could find some way to keep Langford and Nesmith. Well worth an additional future 1st or two. Probably that's a bit too much to hope for.

I do think a team direction of "getting rid of the nerds" would be funny though

Grant would be out should this happen, which would make the board happy.

New dream scenario...

Horford and a 1st round pick for kemba and 2 second round picks.
(hortford deal is probably one of few worse than kemba's, but better fit to roster).  Also saves money for below.

Aaron Grodon to boston into big TPE for OKC 1st and boston 2nd.

Evan founier to boston for TT, and DT and boston 1st in 2021.

lineup
Smart(25) PP(20), teague(3)
Brown(18), fornier(30)
Tatum(20) Brown(14), Nesmith/langford(14)
Gordon(30) tatum(12), GW/SO(6)
Hortford(25), RW3(23)

Lineup is big.  Lineup is very switchable.  Lineup is heavy on distributed assists.  Defense is much improved with no kemba and plus AG. Only RW3 is not decent outside shooter.  This is a contending line up, if not realistic trades.  The key is 1st one, if OKC would do it.

Yeah, from what I've read, everyone thinks Kemba's contract is way more of an albatross than I realized.

But I feel the same, throwing in two picks along with Kemba for Gordon and Fournier would be worth it. But like you said, it doesn't sound likely.
