He is not a bad coach. But time for a new voice.  Look what happened in Philly.

What happened in Philly? Have the won the title already?

I get what you're saying, they've seemingly turned things around. I think Doc has helped but the most important change the made was the uncluttered their roster and put pieces around their two best players that make sense.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

He’s just not an nba coach.  He’s better with college kids that don’t have an ego.  Stevens best teams were when the guys were young and hungry, but you can’t win titles with young hungry talent alone.  You need stars and a coach that can manage that.  Stevens has proven he cannot.  Records aside, with all the talent he still can’t get the team to the next level.  Regardless of what some think, a good coach is more than just knowing x and o.

I'm trying to think if players get as big of a pass in any other major sport. You could make the case that the NFL is even tougher on coaches due to the extremely tactical nature of the game and the never-ending carousel of new coaches.

But the reason I speculate: Brad was dealt a hand and he's making the best of it. The tendency of fans to nitpick the timing of timeouts, or get mad at Brad for tinkering with rotations during an 82 game season, or to blame Brad when players don't bring it energy wise, is baffling.

Brad is elite when it comes to in-series adjustments during the playoffs. He's elite when it comes to allowing All-Star talent to blossom and grow into their roles. He's above average with in-game adjustments (this is his weak point). And he's elite when it comes to playing the long game of an 82 game season.

As Birdman noted, the issue for the past few years has been Danny. And the ability of our players. Not Brad. We've made the ECF 3 out of 4 years with rosters that had about 7-8 legitimate NBA players on them. It seems like misplaced anger focusing solely on Brad.

Besides projection, is there really any concrete evidence of this?

well Stevens has stated he has lost sleep due to the lack of ball movement

And other than a few games this season,  its been mainly Iso type basketball.

I think Washburn article in today’s Boston Globe triggered this. Haven’t read it if someone can post.

It would be interesting to see what Stevens attempts to do to get more ball movement. Tatum, Walker and Smart are all chronic ball stoppers, and that's 3 of the 4 guys who have the ball the most.

I’m a UK fan and I would trade Calipari to Boston for Stevens 😀. Calipari has worn out his welcome here
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Yes Danny taking the blame and accusing the players for lack of urgency in that interview.
Sounds like he is running out of patience and he might have had to answer tough questions from ownership.
There is also 10 % he might think completely the opposite of what he says and has put Brad on the hot seat. He said something like:
“ blame is definitely not on Brad who is the hardest working guy. He respects and is afraid of every opponent and prepares for every one diligently.”
It’s possible that Danny means we don’t have identity and have to adjust to the game of even tanking teams. Who knows with Danny lol

This is his defining moment in my opinion. He needs to do something unconventional and unpopular if it's what the team needs to function better. Start Robert Williams, bench Kemba, bench Tatum or whatever it takes.
