You need to list 'Resign' as a choice.

That is what I thought too. The style of play is a problem, they need to figure out why the ball is not moving. Is it because the stars do not trust their supporting cast or is the system design for ISO basketball?

Well they need to get something at the trade deadline, but besides our injuries and the chaos that many teams have faced, I suspect Tatum may have long COVID also know as long-haul COVID with fatigue, cognitive issues, etc. I'm no doctor, but something seems off to my eyes since he came back. In any case, by the numbers.

pre-COVID 47.4 FG%, 43.8 3FG%
post-COVID 42.7% FG%, 36.9% 3FG%

Firing Brad Stevens is number 1 on my list. This team needs a new voice, a new figure, a new offensive philosophy and identity.

He's only good for rebuilding teams. We are past that (2013-2016). He's clearly not the coach to contend in the NBA.

I’m going to vote with my signature ;D

I also think we should flip guys for immediate help. A series of trades like so:

https://tradenba.com/trades/xx8Rg9_CB

Celtics trade: Edwards, 2021 OKC 1st
Detroit trade: Ellington

The next one I would love is not really that realistic, but I don’t care - the whole premise of this thread is to overreact anyway ;)

https://tradenba.com/trades/rm3vkV68e

Boston trades: Kemba Walker, Tristan Thompson, Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, 2021 1st, 2023 1st
Boston receives: Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Reggie Bullock, Austin Rivers

Orlando trades: Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon
Orlando receives: Tristan Thompson, Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, Boston 2021 1st, Dallas 2021 1st via New York

New York trades: Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, Reggie Bullock, Austin Rivers, 2021 Dallas 1st
New York receives: Kemba Walker, 2023 Boston 1st

Leaves us with a healthy team of:
Smart / Pritchard / Teague
Brown / Ellington / Rivers
Tatum / Bullock / Nesmith
Gordon / Ojeleye / R Williams
Vucevic / Theis / R Williams

That’s my overreaction
If Danny manages to trade OKC first rounder ( or any other teams first rounder without owning it). I swear I would never say anything remotely negative about him lol 😂 🤣

I might buy Covid as a reason, except he was actually better immediately after returning than he has been recently. His first five games back he was 48% from the feild, his last five games he's been 35% from the field. I think the bigger issue is fatigue from a west coast trip, 7 out of the last 10 on the road and a dense schedule as well as the drain of him and Jaylen having to carry the offense.

those are pretty interesting stats.  it isn't like he just came back either, it has been 11 games.  something to keep an eye on.
but if Tatum is still suffering lingering covid related symptoms, wouldn't they keep him out?  or maybe it is something that you can't really observe and test for, ie a little foggy brain vs O2 levels in bloodstream.

The answer is not trade any combination of Brown/Tatum. I mean how much better are you really if you swap Brown for Beal? You'll score more, you'll also absolutely blow on defense, and it won't change your ceiling one bit.

The answer is figure out how to surround Brown/Tatum with complementary talent. Whether that means don't sign stiffs like Teague/Thompson, actually hit on draft pick (not just a guy who will be a nice backup PG like PP, a legit above average starter HIT), making an actual in season trade (they've made one in five years, to dump Jabari Bird).

I think we will be ok come the playoffs. For some reason teams just are not allowed to defend in the regular season and our strength is defense. With that I have completely given up on Timelord his team defense is much worse than nesmith ( ok exaggeration but you see the point.) for all the potential and highlight plays he makes he just sucks the air out of the team with his defensive rotations. Kemba does that to an extent too.
I voted do nothing but if I have to choose who to trade for better fitting players Kemba and Timelord are the ones to go. At this point I don’t want value for them .... Horford works just fine for me as a return.

Ha, oops! Thanks for the pickup. Was still a bit groggy - had only just woken up to the news that we'd lost against Washington, of all teams

TL is probably the best asset the Celts have.

IF Kings would take TL and Langford or Nesmith plus a 1st for Holmes and Barnes.

Danny should take it

I also think the team should trade Theis and Thompson

Both are mediocre at best.  Defensively Celts are one of the worst rim protecting team

I would trade Theis and TT for picks. Then try to trade for Gafford and Moe Wagner (the guy we saw today)

So our C rotation would look like

Richuan Holmes, Daniel Gafford, Moe Wagner

These guys play hungry baskteball and their lives depends on it

That is a truly woeful big man rotation, and significantly worse than the one we have now

Is there any team that has less pick and roll offense than this Celtics team does? I feel like the solution this year is for Smart to get healthy and Kemba to accept his new and different role.

I only want to fire Brad if he can't get rid of his "stand around and wait for a pass" style offense. If this team worked hard for high percentage shots on offense and played the defense they are capable of it would be a top 2 team in the East.

Team lack a true point guard..Walker is more of a shooting guard..need someone like Rubio who should be on trade market
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
