Unrealistic wants:

KAT

Beal

Realistic wants:

Collins

Barnes

Neither Collins or Barnes is realistic without giving up Smart and picks. Would you?

Barnes could be had without Smart, IMO. I think - based on their team makeup - the possible sacrifice if you're not giving up multiple picks/swaps would be Rob Williams. Bagley is on the outs there, Richaun Holmes is placeholder due to his limitations. They need longterm bigs to compliment Fox and Haliburton (and Hield?) in the backcourt.

I'd give up Rob in a deal for Barnes depending on what else was going out.

I’d say Thad Young/Otto Porter/Harrison Barnes. They are good fits and relatively attainable. Young should be fairly cheap, an expiring deal, and is a solid defender/role player.

Mixed emotions on Collins. I think he is a good offensive player and fits what the Cs are looking for but don’t think he’s looking to sacrifice #s behind JT/JB/Kemba. He wants a bigger role and he wants a full max.

LeBron if we’re in win now mode but SGA or Adebayo if we want to build a dynasty.
I think the OP mentioned realistic. None of these are realistic

Everybody has a price. Why isn't SGA realistic?

SGA has a Tatum-like price-tag associated with him. He's a 22 year-old 20/6/4 guy and he's still on his rookie deal, so the balance of salary and value would be impossible to match for us. It would cost Brown + other stuff. Similar with Adebayo
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Just get some players at this point. We have like 6-7 players right now. It's not enough with all these back to backs.

John Collins if he’s available.

Can someone share (considering this seems to be brought up a lot): other than the Hawks having lots of bigs, why would John Collins be available?
You answered your own question...they have lots of bigs

There's also a lot of smoke regarding him not wanting to stay in Atlanta / them lowballing him

This is an interesting article that dropped just now:  https://hardwoodhoudini.com/2021/02/04/boston-celtics-new-tpe-candidates/

Although, I did read, believe it was on Twitter, C's are looking at a larger deal, packaging Kemba, plus they're back in on Vuc.  I'll try to find the link again and post it.

A few words on some of the players mentioned above.

Vucevic: Bad fit next to Tatum and Brown in our switch-heavy defensive system. The way our PnR defense works, Theis/Thompson meet the opposing ball handler at the level of dribble hand off and deny penetration. Vuc ain't mobile enough to switch ball screens on the perimeter. We'd have to change our defensive scheme, like we do whenever Timelord is on the court. If you ask me, this is the reason Timelord ain't a starter for us. In a vacuum. I believe he's our best Center.

Barnes: Overpaid, but I reckon he'd be a nice fit in our system.

Collins: About to become overpaid. Don't think we can afford 4 max/close-to-max contracts going forward. Chances are, we'd have to dump Kemba for cap relief. The C's already got 2 go-to scorers in Tatum-Brown. Wouldn't want us to go after a score-first, one-dimensional big man.

Otto Porter: Μassively overpaid + injury prone. That said, I believe he'd fit our system like a glove. I'd be over the moon if we could sign him via the buyout market.

Buddy Hield

Guys a knockdown shooter who will have a lot of space alongside JT/JB and he can capably carry a team’s offense for stretches. If Buddy is your 4th best offensive option, you’ve got a high powered offense.

Great post. I agree on Vucevic. I’m not hoop savvy to know if Brad could adjust the d this way. That’s just how I feel about Rob Williams as well ( way different talent level I know) . On paper the offense looks amazing but something tells me Brad would t be up for it( I could be wrong) and maybe we just don’t have enough to get it done either.
Collins I’d be game too but I think it’s a toss up whether he gets a max offer from another team. I’d be worried he would t be satisfied here.

Barnes and Porter seem to fit really well . Not sure it puts us over the top. I’ve seen Barnes more than Porter. I think we lost a lot on d losing Hayward that people don’t talk about very much. Barnes would really help there.

I like this one a lot too. Not sure if a Kemba/ buddy back court isn’t to small/ weak? Or what we’re sending back in this one. Any guesses ? I find it hard to guess what a guys values really are. Sometimes nba trades go they I’m really surprised . The ramifications of all these contracts gives me a headache to try and follow. Ha.
