Seems like people with college basketball sources are thinking there's something to this story about Brad leaving.
People with NBA sources are saying there's no indication of it.
Either it's bogus or Brad has completely kept this a secret from the team and everybody around the team.
As a University of Michigan follower, this is starting to remind me of Jim Harbaugh's return to college. The NFL media was screaming that there was no way this would happen, whereas the U of M media felt that Harbaugh's return was
fait accompli. This has continued throughout his tenure, with the NFL media saying he's out the door, whereas Michigan insiders say there's nothing to it (even if some would like it to be true).
It's generally difficult for pro sports to fathom why anyone would prefer college -- there are more resources, you get to work with adults, there's no recruiting, etc. And yet some people who've experienced both may prefer college, especially coaching at the state flagship school they've felt attached to their entire life.
All that said, the one place this parallel breaks down is that in the Harbaugh situation, we were all certain it wouldn't occur until after the NFL season, whereas Indiana thinks it's happening in the middle of the NBA season, and making such a switch midseason would seem very, very unlike the person Brad Stevens is. So unless the situation in Boston is so toxic that Stevens needs to get out
today, I'm going to side with the NBA media this time.
