Thompson is a better defender than Kanter, but they are similar players overall.  There is probably a small upgrade there, but not significant.  I think Teague will be a fine back-up PG and certainly a better spot starter than Wanamaker, but I'm not sure he will be a better situational back-up than Wanamaker was, as I don't believe he will be as good a shooter as Wanamaker (at least going forward).  The team will miss Hayward a lot.  Having your 4th guy have the ability to score 20 on any given night is huge and none of the rookies will replace that and I don't think Langford is ready for that sort of role either.  So overall, the loss of Hayward is big and he wasn't replaced.  I think that will be the issue and why I don't think the team is any better.

The only thing is, with losing hayward I think those shots will go to Jaylen brown and he will make another jump.

last year from what I remember during the season those guys kinda played rope-a-dope. If hayward had a huge game, jaylen had a pedestrian game and vice versa. Jaylen would have a big game and Hayward would have 12 points.

I do think/hope danny fills out the roster with veterans who can help the team WIN NOW. what hurt them in the playoffs was not having those veteran guys. We saw how the Miami heat a Veteran like Igoudala won a game for them.

Its possible that Nesmith becomes their tyler herro/duncan robinson contributer but its always nice to have veterans on the team so you dont have to always rely on young guys learning on the spot

Hayward had 8 games of at least 25 points last year.  Game 1 vs. Philly he just went off though had less shots than Tatum or Walker. Game 6 against Cleveland, Brown didn't play, Hayward led the team in shots and was 17 of 20 that game for 39 points.  Game 23 against Detroit, Tatum was out, Hayward had less shots than Brown or Walker (Hayward was 11 of 15).  Game 30 against Miami, Tatum was out and Hayward again trailed both Brown and Walker in shots attempted.  Game 31 against Golden State, Smart led the team with 16 shots, Hayward was 2nd with 15 shots, but Tatum had 14 and Brown and Walker both had 13.  Game 38 against Minnesota, Walker was out, Tatum led the team in shots with 21, while Brown and Hayward each had 17.   Game 45 against Indiana, Brown was out, Tatum led the team in shots, Hayward was 2nd. Game 51 against Orlando, Hayward led the team in scoring, but was 3rd in shots behind both Tatum and Brown.

In other words, Brown seemed to be ill effected by Hayward's great games.  Sometimes someone was out, but usually it was just Hayward was actually hitting his shots at a crazy level.

As long as thompson defensive rebounds that's all I care about.

Offensive rebounding is overrated and useless same as kanter.

Setting aside the super wrong takes on Teague, I'm a bit surprised by the poll..

Huh? This past year in 34 games for Minny before the trade to ATL he put up slightly higher than his career numbers virtually across the board in 28 minutes per game (13 pts, 6 assists, 3 rbds, on 45 fg% and 38 3pfg%).

He’s a great pickup abd exactly what we need for vet scoring, playmaking, and leadership potential off the bench.

Hayward was a big name , who even when he was supposed to be healthy seemed to not show up as a 30 million a year guy should , but shrink from the moment , mental issues .  This hurt the team and their play to watch him hide . im not subtracting the player we were suppose to have , utah Gordy .  He was about 1/2 what i thought at best.

Teague is old , but a savy tuff minded veteran, who will like a solid smart coach like CBS .  Wanna tried and was a good soldier , but lacks the IQ and savy for playoff 1/2 court ball....Teague maybe as good as Kemba in a playoff game , if he can stay healthy.

I liked Kanter alot , team first , great attitude was always AAA+ for the Celtics .  But , he seemed to be having advanced physical woes , that might require hip surgery or such and seemed to be dragging and moving slow .  His back , hips and knees maybe worn out . The years took their toll.  I think TT has more left in the tank and better health.   He can fill the lane and guard it from attacking bigs ,  something Theis is too small to handle .  So TT is an up grade over worn out celtics version of Kanter ,  TT has a bigs attitude as well and will look out for the smalls.

Teague is an upgrade over Wanamaker. If you dispute that, then yikes.

Minnesota fans say that we will absolutely hate Teague. They call him an incredibly frustrating player to watch.
A ball hog who dribbles the ball like Terry Rozier while not creating anything.

Wanamaker isn't anything special, but he was solid on defense and one of the better catch-and-shoot guys in the league.
Teague isn't what he used to be, so I wouldn't be too hasty to call Teague an upgrade.

I'm hoping that it won't matter anyway and that Pritchard will be ready from day one to play regular minutes.

Yeah, I am hesitant on Teague myself. He hasn't impacted winning on his teams over the last few seasons. His numbers have been fine but they haven't had the impact you would expect them to have. Empty-ish.

I am just hoping for steady play from him rather than high end bench player. I am hoping for above average backup PG play rather than elite but I'd be happy enough with average backup PG play which is what Wannamaker was bringing to the table.

Not sure a thing as an upgrade but I'm hoping he will be.

Teague plays with more of a chip on his shoulder than Wanamaker. We could’ve used dudes with more attitude coming off our bench in the bubble.
