Several teams are upgrading.  I don't think the Cs fall in that Category.

I might be over-reacting, and when I see teams like the current Champion (the hated Lakers) upgrading, I am so jealous.

In any case.  With Gordon gone, and no replacement that I can see (with the exception of unproven young talent),  it is hard to say the Cs have upgraded.

So, What say you?

Huge downgrade if Hayward leaves.  Not even close.

It's not getting much better.

I thought so until I checked the schedule.  Pre Season starts in about 2.5 weeks, season starts in 4 weeks
...and training camp I think it starts on Dec 1.  That's the week after next.

If Hayward leaves for nothing, we definitely downgraded.

But I feel we will either get a decent haul for him (at worst, Turner and a serviceable role player) or we keep him.

Then add in Nesmith who may be exactly what we need and we still have the MLE to use.

Too early to tell where we stand. Probably won’t know until Tuesday or Wednesday, my guess. I’m sure players and teams would want this wrapped up before Thanksgiving.

We are like 15 hours into the new season. Let’s see what happens first.

Do we think Miami got much better? The Bucks?

Miami just added an elite defensive wing for the BAE, it's looking good for them rn.

Bucks did add Jrue. That’s a nice get for just Bledsoe/Hill.

Too iffy at this point to say. And I expect the roster is not complete.
If we acquire Turner and VO from Indiana we are deeper so probably better.
If we hit on one of the 2 first round picks again deeper so maybe better. That maybe is dicey .

I'm saying yes....though it may require a few months of the season to see it (for Nesmith and Pritchard to get the schemes right so they can come in and contribute comfortably)

We acquired what we were missing from last year.  Losing Hayward (if it's for nothing) hurts temporarily...but the new draftees over time more than make up for it...due to Tatum Hayward overlapping (Tatum's improvement in distribution).

As good as Hayward is at distributing, he also has the ball more than the Celtics need...to replace this we added a guy who will not have the ball in his hands, but will shoot it much better than Hayward.
That's an improvement (over time).

I've seen How good Hayward can be.  He can be awesome.  That is something to miss and that is why Danny shouldn't settle in this deal with Indiana.  But, Tatum/Brown just need to be and are ready to be the focus and have the ball.  I would still love Hayward off the bench for the next three years is he ends up back in Boston.  That would be GREAT!  But, not if he'll be unhappy, and not if Nesmith is ready for big minutes sooner rather than later.   In that case better if Gordon heads to Indy.

Agree with some others that target #1 should be Baynes.  I mean, if Turner comes then no, too many centers...but I liked the concept of Dipo plus Holiday then sign Baynes...even if we need to add a pick.

Then Pritchard verses Wannamaker.  I think it's an upgrade despite defense better from Wannamaker.
Pritchard with ball handling, pushing the tempo, shooting, etc..will add a needed dimension to backup PG spot.  Wannamaker did ok, but when he was in it felt like it was to rest someone.  Pritchard will oft make us wonder if he should come out of the game imo...a very different feeling.

My answer of yes definitely was influenced by:

1.  amount of time Hayward missed, and
2.  predicting decent moves to finish off the off-season.

Hayward is not gone yet, and we have quite a bit more leverage than we had a couple of days ago

I know hindsight is 20-20 but Danny could have traded Hayward + kanter + Poirier plus whatever useless picks we had to OKC for Adams and shroeder and save us this drama... not to mention we could have made the finals too
I’m angry lol
