I feel like Pritchard is a poor man's Chauncey Billups.  Tough guy who is not overly big or athletic, but has enough of both to get by.  Makes up for lack of standout physical gifts with excellent BBIQ and by simply playing hard on both ends of the court.   Quality ball handler and playmaker, with a dangerous outside shot.

Not trying to suggest that Pritchard will ever be as good as Chauncey was, but his skill set, personality and play style reminds me a lot of him.  The things he brings are things the Celtics really need.

He reminds me of Tony Parker.

I look at Peyton Pritchard and I see a star in the league. All you guys reducing him to a bench player do not get that players make plays. You are just looking at him and underrating him because of his size. This guy is a player he is no ones off the bench scrub.

I dont think Pritchard is going to any all-star game or be a candidate for any award in his career. But he most likely will have a long successful career. Very composed and smart, doesnt have any otherworldy athleticism but also doesnt seem very limited. Going to be great rotation player.

No sixth man of the year?

Its the closest but I dont think so. He might be a starter for a team though.

That's a good comp, but PP may end up being a better shooter.  My comp is Jason Kidd --  Tough, smart, drain a 3 once in a while.

Good one

Both love the hostage dribbling(putting defender at the hips). Also changing speeds and crafty ways to finish around the rim

Kendrick Perkins said he be steal of the draft before the draft
I saw Kendrick Perkins talk about him on draft night and it appeared that he knew close to nothing about Pritchard.

I don’t see star potential at all.

Undersized. No outlier strengths. Unexceptional athleticism in any category.

In order to be a star at his size with his athleticism he’d need to be 99th percentile in something. He looks quite good at everything but that won’t be enough.

Do you consider VanVleet a star? Or Dragic? Or Lowry?

What are they "99th percentile" in?

Tools are similar to John Stockton, the question will be does he have that level of smarts?

Things seem a bit out of hand here. It's fun to dream about what he might become.

I'm just happy that it seems like he has the ability to contribute to a winning team culture and possibly make a significant contribution in the playoffs. I'm not sure I see the high end comparisons that some are bringing up, but I definitely think the Celtics are better with him.

I was seeing a lot of Chauncey actually. Really good use of screens and has the ability to put up jumpshots from 2 feet to 25 feet

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)

I don't know. Billups handles wasn't all great/fancy.  He also took a while to warm up in the league

He was strong but played with calmness. Pritchard = someone lit his butt on fire

I do get the using the screens efficiently comparison

This is a good breakdown of Payton Pritchard:

Wow it is always good when data can backup the eye test. Like so many others here, I am hoping we got a steal in this young man. Early impressions look promising.
