Looked pretty bad yesterday. On both ends

Looks like no pnr plays for him. Also bigger player guarding him semi zone. So if shot doesnt fall(which it didnt), not easy to get past his man and finish at the rim

Defensively....welp, that was what I was worried about. Got beat on the drive. And couldnt bother his man jump shot. KD shot over him = welcome to the big time rook
I would argue that he's a passable on-ball defender at his position, but he gets killed on switches. :(

And yet for now, at least, he’s shot ahead of Tremont.

He’ll take his lumps in a lot of ways. It might be the quickest way to get him ready. He looks like a fighter; this is a good time to give him a shot.

He moves the ball, which the Celtics desperately need more of. That’s why he’s getting minutes despite his inexperience.

So far he’s always been on the floor with Smart or Teague (or in garbage time with Waters).
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

I wish Pritchard wasnt in the rotation. Teague is a better player and he can’t play a position other than PG. So CBS ends up playing Pritchard with Teague and it’s just a very small lineup. Put Grant Williams at the 5 and it sounds like a recipe for disaster on both ends of the floor (unless that lineup gets hot from deep).

Teague didn’t give us much against the Nets. I think we are going to need everyone that can play through this season.

Definite flaw in our defensive scheme that Brad never adjusts it when our small guards get picked on.

He gets minutes the same reason Grant gets minutes. Both guys are very smart defensively and correctly make the right read [almost] every time. Both guys are undersized (well, not really, but Grant is when he is playing C and Pritchard is fine for his size at PG), but they know what they are doing on both sides of the ball. That clearly means a LOT more to Brad than pure athletic potential.

Shot 5-5 (3-3 at the 3 pt line)

Good anticipation on defense.  The 3s were nice to see. But was most excited to see him bring up the ball and then turn on the jets (VanVleet style) and dish is to a cutting Gwilliams for a layup.  Fantastic basketball

Great game by Pritchard. It's hard to hope for any more than what he is already doing from a late first round pick, but I think his gravity as a shooter, playmaking in the pick-and-roll, and havoc-wreaking as a defender will only get better throughout this season. He looks like a guy that can be in the rotation in the playoffs. That's pretty awesome.

They need to pass to him more. One thing I noticed much to my delight is that after his first couple of threes the Pacers began to pay more attention to him leaving Tatum more room to operate, Tatum and Brown need to be told that the more they get him involved the more the game will open up for them.

He has gravity as a shooter which should open the lane for cutters/drives.  Good things so far.

I’m right there with you on all these things, and especially agree about playmaking, which is what the team is missing the most.

Looks like maybe he can shoot with Steph/Trae range, outside typical challenges.

Should be playing more

He got 23 minutes last game he should probably at like 25 so he’s not far off. He should maybe be one of the guys that comes off the bench early in the third quarter to give us a little scoring burst.

Anyone just glad that ainge  drafted a ready to play nba player (that wasn’t a lotto pick)?

I consider rob Williams to be a lotto talent (literally like 10 guards were drafted almost sequentially before rob was picked)

I’m very glad. Pritchard was one of my mock picks. I wish we had kept Bane. He also seems NBA ready.

This could easily be an overreaction, but swap him with Theis in the starting lineup.

Going from 2 shooters to 3 and 1 guard to two would do wonders for our spacing. Pritchard & Smart could be real pests together.

Space the floor and TT will also be a terror on the offensive glass.

Enough lineups without a single guard that can shoot. It’s a shooters’ league.

I agree 100%.  Been thinking the same thing.

I'm an Oregon fan. And what Pritchard is doing, shooting, passing, defensive pest, is not surprising me, it is what we saw the last couple years. Dana Altman is a coach who drills his players on the fundamentals, and plays complex defense. They tend to be ready for the NBA. The one aspect that has not been tapped yet is game winners. Pritchard had a slew of them, and rarely missed on the last shot. If open, I would trust him as much as anyone on the C's for a game winner.
