Way to much panic.

The best thing that can still happen is Hayward opting out and resigning to a long term contract at a lower price (which signals the team is ok with the Tax)

Then Kanter opts in and the Celtics can combine him, a late draft pick and some salary filler to get a useful vet (George Hill would be great).

Then use the other two draft picks to move up and draft their target.

Use the tax level MLE to add one more vet.

Not losing Hayward for nothing is a very important thing. But Having Hayward himself is not in the best interest of the team, imo.

Smart/Brown/Tatum have the sg-pf spots on lock down. Team needs a huge improvement in depth and could really stand to have a sizeable difference at Center.

Draft can address some of the bench, maybe
a tax payer MLE will help a little
Trading Kanter might help a little.

But none of those will put the team into contention.

Hayward needs to opt in, or be signed and traded for some talent that better fits our needs and age.

Should be a fun 48 hours. The only option rumored out there still for Hayward s&t is Indiana. I think there is real pressure on Ainge with the Hayward stuff.  I am not sold on Turner.  But Celtics need to get a serious rotation wing.  Brown hasn't always stayed healthy and the way Smart plays is accident waiting to happen.  Add Kembas knee.  Turner isnt enough and we lose a lot with Hayward.

There is a Hawks "Insider" claiming the Hawks want him pretty bad, and if he opts out they will immediately make a good offer for him.

They apparently like his ability to shoot and generate offense, which would take a little pressure off of trae and hopefully they start making playoffs (afraid trae gets tired of losing and he leaves)

So If Hayward opts in, that might put pick 6 in play for us.

Yes, that is a strong rumor.  I know Huerter has stated he is trying to mold his game like Hayward.  But Hayward opting out and Celtics getting nothing is a huge loss.

Agreed, that is why he needs to opt in. He owes it to the franchise to at least do that. Or do some kind of a sign and trade maybe.

My guess is Hayward walks for nothing and Boston makes all three picks like last year. Essentially the same team minus Hayward with one more rookie. Other two picks will be stashed.

Good starting five with a G league bench. I don’t see them getting anything out of Romeo. He will be out hurt again.

I do not think this team is better.  Bench is a wash.  How are you getting Wood and Gallo?  Is this Hayward opting out?

It will be interesting if Hayward just walks.  Especially with his relationship with Steven's.

Only if Atlanta is offer him a multi-year Max deal.   Otherwise, I don't see why he wants to go there.

Worst case scenario is running it back as is only adding rookie draft picks. Simply not good enough at the 5 and off the bench.

I would trade every pic to move up or move out of the draft to get a vet. I would listen to offers for Kemba and move him if the situation was right. I would try to purge the bench of guys that just aren’t NBA level talent like semi Carsen Edwards green. Not sure what I would do with Romeo because I don’t think that he can play in the NBA either. Boston needs to address the five, Bench scoring and a suitable back up for Kemba because who knows when his knee is going to shut him down for good.

Trading Hayward is a priority. Trading Kemba should be second on the list.

No wonder why no one wants to come here lol. "Didn't work the very first year? Blow it up! Blow everything up! Your career is over! You're a bust! Get out, so we can throw our next acquired players under the bus!"

Who said blow it up? Rumors are they are already shopping Kemba and Hayward. Do you think the Celtics as constructed are good enough to win the east? I don’t. Bench is a problem. Semi has been here three years. We have seen enough of him. You think Edwards is an every day rotation player? Langford can’t stay healthy. I love Robert Williams but he also is injury prone.

I like theis off the bench. Would make that unit stronger. I don’t mind keeping Kemba but the knee is worrisome. I don’t think you can just tweak the edges of this team and say they are one of the best in the east. Milwaukee is loading up. The heat will be very good. New Jersey is going to be very good. Boston needs to make some real improvements particularly to their bench.

Hayward sign and trade for a TPE after opting out.
TPE is used to get Gallo and Wood
Rest are picks.

And that team is miles better. HAving Gallo off the bench is huge, Haliburton is gonna be a real player, Wood is a star in the making.

IT is last years team adding Wood, Gallo, Haliburton and rookies. (i am not considering a Hayward loss because he really wasnt here last season when it mattered)

All is my dream

Bench is trash right now, no reliable shooters on it. Front court needs a bit of an upgrade, need a potential kemba replacement.

You are 100% on the money.

Edwards is not a championship contributor
Semi is not one either.

While the Bucks and other teams make strong moves to contend, the Celtics lay low.
I'm fine with it. Just keep building patiently via the draft.

We do have to manage the financial situation. Either Hayward walks/re-signs and otherwise Hayward or Walker needs to be traded before the trade deadline.

The main goal for this season is to further develop Tatum, Brown, R.Williams, Langford, G.Williams and rookies.

Trade away Walker/Edwards/Ojeleye/Theis/Kanter if a decent offer comes in.
How about prioritizing winning after 7 years of rebuilding and having 3+ all stars on the team ?

Tatum and Brown will be here in two years and probably even better than they're now. Don't care too much about Walker. He's a very good player, but also a defensive liability. He's barely a top 10 PG in the playoffs and that knee is really concerning. I don't think anyone believed that Walker would show the road to contention, he was just a stopgap to make sure we comfortably stayed a playoff team.

We have a terrible bench. Two ways about it. Trade away picks/rookie contracts for veteran help or develop the young guys. I choose the latter. The Celtics peak can start in 2-3 years. You're not getting great value for our unproductive bench pieces Robert Williams (5 PTS/4 REB/1 BLK a game), Grant Williams (3 PTS/3 REB/1 ASS a game) or Langford (3 PTS/1 REB a game) anyway on the trade market.

We had 3 first rounders (although Edwards was technically an early 2nd) last year and 3 first rounders this year, it should be possible to end up with at least 2 solid role players in the end.

Really only two young guys that might develop. Grant and Robert Williams (if he can stay healthy). Romeo has James young written all over him. Edwards is a g league player as is tremont. Semi needs to go. Not sure the go young plan has a lot to it.
