A couple years ago my cousin got some tickets to a noon game against the Kings. I was living in NY at the time and took the bus up to go to the game. I got there way early so I was just hanging out, taking pictures and wound up kind of behind the Garden. Tommy arrived so he walked right by me. I said hi and he said hi back. I think he was a little suspicious about why this guy with a camera was back there but I said, "Have a good day, Mr. Heinsohn" and he said thank you, you too and kept walking. Very pleasant. Also, he seemed huge to me.

Anyway, that's my Tommy story. Loved him. Really grateful to have gotten to see him in person once.

Just south of Clinton, on route 70, just past the dam, there is a large boulder called Profile Rock overlooking the reservoir that has frequently been the canvas for graffiti  - usualy just high school class number stuff but also often for remembrances of lost loves.

I noticed the other day that someone painted it completely in Celtics green and white, with Tommy Heinsohn's name, a Celtics logo and the years for all the championships listed.

It turns out that it was Tommy's grandson's who painted it!

It's pretty awesome and I hope they leave it up forever.

I grew up off the Wachusett Reservoir in West Boylston. We used to bike out to the dam in Clinton every now & then as kids. May have gone swimming in the res a time or two....

Attended a basketball camp back in the day and Tommy was the guest instructor one day.  He starts off his talk by holding up a $20 bill - and asking who wants this?  Of course everyone's hand goes up and he hands it to one of the kids - then says 'guys to be any good at this game you have to want the ball - just like you wanted the cash...'

So looking at basketball-reference, they have Tommy wearing #15 for his whole career ('57-'65), but also show him wearing #20 in 1960.

Is there any story behind this?  Did he do i for a reason or is it just a random one-off like his jersey ripped or got lost and or got blood on it, and so he wore #20 for one game?

To check, bball-ref also shows Jordan as wearing #12, so even if it was one game, looks like they would list it.

Just curious if there's any story here, and a quick Google search gives me nothing.  Anybody know?
