Awfully bold of you to assume I slept last night  :P

Jokes aside, it wasn't easy falling asleep. I tried avoiding social media mostly lol.

I think the last time I've felt this way was after Game 3 of the 2018 World Series. If you remember, they lost it in 18 innings and the series lead went from 2-0 to 2-1. Next two games were still on the road (due to 2-3-2 format) and it felt like the Dodgers now had all the momentum. And they started Game 4 up 4-0 but thankfully the Sox rallied to win Game 4, then Game 5 to win it all. But yeah that night, the game ended at 3:30 AM EST lol and the next 18 hours felt depressing.

Oh yeh that 18 inning game was definitely rough on the brain.  Multiple OT Bruins playoff games can do that too.

Yeah. So can Game 7 of last year's Stanley Cup Finals (welp). I also felt this way after the Pats lost the SB to the Eagles a few years ago. I couldn't believe how awful our defense was that night and we made Foles look like a superstar... And add in the internal drama the media kept reporting and it was a tough few months after that too. But again, we bounced back and won the next Super Bowl to the Rams

Exactly the same feeling.  I kept running that Kinsler throw over and over in my head, just as I did the defense on the lob.  Turned out just a bump in the road as I hope this is.  That error also allowed me to attend game 5 in person.  Bucket list experience!  I guess my thinking now is that if this loss costs us the series, we weren't going to take it all anyway.  I don't think it will cost us the series, because I think this team has the heart to shrug it off.  And, better to have a wake up call when up 2-0 then say in game one of the ECF to fall down 0-1.

Dang that's awesome! Must have been fun especially the ending  ;D

OK...Toronto hit them with everything they had and Tatum didn't have a particularity good game and they still needed a miracle shot.  I like us in this series.  Before the playoffs, I wasn't convinced that Kemba would be that effective.  I was dead wrong.

Yeah, not taking it as well as others. That was the definition of a disaster and I definitely had a hard time sleeping. Going from 3-0 to 2-1 on a shot that never would have happened outside of the bubble (Lowry was so far back from the sideline on that pass) is really rough.

Toronto now has all of the momentum moving forward. I know they are all professionals, but they are young and I think it will be difficult for them to let go of what could have been. Not saying the series is over, but I fully expect a best of 3 after Saturday night.

That momentum thing is overblown.  Let me give you two examples:

1) 2018 World Series - Kinsler throws away the ball on what would've been the final out in game 3.  They would've lead 3-0, instead 2-1 with the next two games in Los Angeles.  How did that series end up?

2) 2002 ECF.  Celtics vs. Nets.  The Celtics came back from a 22 point 4th quarter deficit in game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead, with game 4 in Boston.  The Celtics didn't win another game in that series.  Nets win 4-2.

This Celtics team has the mettle, leadership and chemistry needed to shrug this off and double-down their intensity for the rest of the series.  Go Cs!

I sure hope so. A big statement game on Saturday by our guys would show me everything I needed to see about whether or not they are a true contender. Being able to put Thursday night behind them would show just how mature they really are. Stevens is an incredible coach in this regard.

Kemba's pass to Thies was beautiful though.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Last night's game was definitely the rare variety that leaves your head spinning.  I think the last time this happened to me was after the 2003 Red Sox/Yankees Game 7 extra inning debacle.  Definitely after the Patriots two weird losses to the Giants in the Super Bowl.  Those games were all of more significance, but the way they happened were mind boggling.

Weird night's sleep for sure. There were just two many ways that that coulda shoulda woulda ended differently last night.

ah well

on to game 4

I got over it and slept well! Been through too many of these heartbreaks to stress about any single one of them. On to Saturday!

Kemba's pass to Thies was beautiful though.

I was lookin at that play and I just realize that Kemba had 2 other options to pass to instead of Theis...Smart and JB were half open for a three point shot.

Granted that it may or may not have gone in for either , then it would certainly be a win or OT since the score was tied and heaving a three would essentially leave no time on the clock instead of the Theis dunk which we all knew left 0.5 seconds....oh revisionist history is just so hard to fathom.

Yeah idk if I'll get any better sleep tonight lol  :P

To be honest I think I just need to take a day or two off from social media + sports. Bruins eliminated a week ago. 2020 Red Sox are absolute trash. Now these last few games from the Celtics. A lot of sadness.

I also have classes starting up this week so I think I need to just relax and not worry about sports for a bit. Life's just crazy lol

Good news is, NFL starts up next week though we'll see how that pans out with the pandemic
