It should be Mr. Glass Hayward instead of Gordon. I swear modern players team medical staff look for any excuse not to play players suffering from injuries
Fixed for you. Though I can understand if a player didn't want to risk his long term health if he wasn't totally right. Just look at Isaiah Thomas, see where that got him. A reputation as "Iron IT" but messed his body up for the long term and also millions of dollars poorer. They're not getting paid peanuts like the old days these days.
TP. I’m amazed how many people trash players for sitting with injuries. It’s an 82-game regular season, plus playoffs for the Cs. Look at the way players put their bodies at risk throughout the games - hitting the deck, crashing into other players at the rim, landing badly and on each other. It’s miles from anything in a YMCA or even div 1 college game. These guys play nicked all the time.
And it goes without saying, here goes: we want these guys healthy, gelling, and peaking for the playoffs.
I ran track/XC in high school and college. Everyone knew that the whole point of the season was to time your fitness just right so that you could race your best race late in the season, when it mattered. People sat out races, or coasted through races early in the year to prep for the championship season. But somehow in other sports, it’s the attitude of “leave it all on the court every game.” That’s a dumb mindset. Unless you’re desperately fighting for a playoff spot you gotta be strategic, take rests, time things right and peak in the playoffs.
