As usual, people look past what is actually said in the OP.  My comments are about his game, not about one game.

Simple questions: how has Tatum’s game improved since he came into the league?  What are his star qualities?

Again, these aren’t one game kind of questions.

If you want people to make a commentary on Tatums game you have to give him more than one game into the season to show what skills he has, or has not, developed. :o
Its been over a year since he came into the league.  How has he improved in that time?

Sigh If a thread like this is going to be the norm than I think I'm going to take a hiatus from Celticsblog. I want to preserve my mental health.

I took a step back from posting/reading over the summer and it was quite nice.

Yeah it’s best to take a few months off. It’ll be good for the blood pressure. :D

If you don’t know them after fans and experts have been analyzing for years, then you have not been paying much attention.

he takes and hits off the dribble threes now, his first year he was strictly a spot up guy. thats important. Beyond that I don't know. Hell man I mostly agree with you, I just think we need to see what improvements he's made this year before we go too far.

Lets go with that.  I’m not paying attention.  So tell me.

Me too! They are a very unlikable team.

So I think we can all agree on this?

Eh? After one game?

He also looked like he's attacking the rim tonight, something he rarely did last season.
But if someone breathes on him he’s still not strong enough to finish.  That’s the most frustrating part of his game for me.

It always annoys me that Australian summer coincides with the NBA ramping up and me typically having lots more spare time (naturally to browse CS).

At least I was right about Hayward ;D Obviously in jest - it's crazy to overreact this severely to one game. Give JT, Kemba and the others all some time. At least Kemba wasn't the worst big-name guard who swapped teams today (Conley was!)

I said that Tatum would be the one who would get attacked once Kyrie left. I knew it would happen. He is next in line to be responsible for the team losing.

I want to see how Tatum goes in Game 2 of the season before writing him off. He had the right intent this game in attacking the basket and his shot chart is getting better at least - mostly 3s and shots at the rim:

The issue was his poor execution and the volume of shots he took...there were a number of ill-advised ones where he would have been better served passing. He stopped the ball too often. I think he was too keyed up and anxious to be The Man, rather than being like Gordon and letting the game come to him. Also if you're looking to pass like G was the defense has to respect that which gave G more scoring opportunities in the 2nd half. I'm hoping a night of watching film will allow JT to make the necessary adjustments. If he doesn't then the worry factor will increase for me. I have zero problem with him taking shots which are good shot options within the flow of the offense, and going iso late in the shot clock. I don't want him feeling like he's the only guy who can score and jacking up ill advised shots when there are better shots for other people.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Why don't we give him a few more games until we 'write him off' haha...the kid is a good player, but his play hasn't caught up with the praise he gets...yet.

I am willing to be patient with him.  But we need to get back to moving the ball better.  Too much iso in general.

Positive on Tatum: I liked him taking the ball to the hoop, but the turnovers are the thing that bugs me.  Gotta be stronger with the ball, and if you can't get to the rim, then find the open man because someone is open.

I missed the game, but I like that shot chart

I mean he also grabbed 10 rebounds and finished with 21 points. How come no one is mentioning that?
