Yeah, I know, he’s 21.  But I’ve seen near zero progress in his game entering his third year.  He’s talented, sure.  But he’s not super talented.  His fade-aways are really getting old.  His overall decision making is blah.

He’s no longer a sure fire future all star, never mind a top 10 player in the league.

Am I overreacting?  Perhaps.  But bonafide stars make bigger leaps by now.  He hasn’t made one, and frankly, he’s getting to be frustrating to watch.

I though the shots he took were actually not terrible shots, its just they didn't go in. That aspect will not stick. The problem is he isnt actually good (or at least not consistent) at handling the ball or passing. If you just take a lot of shots without creating pressure on the defense then its hard for the offense in general to succeed.

Siakam to me has developed more than Tatum... But that's just me.

I think Tatum is definitely no Kobe..he is more like a Pippen but without the fire.. Can cap out as an all star but definitely not goin to be a superstar.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Eh? After one game?

He also looked like he's attacking the rim tonight, something he rarely did last season.

Sigh If a thread like this is going to be the norm than I think I'm going to take a hiatus from Celticsblog. I want to preserve my mental health.

Errrmahhhgerrrdd it was literally one game.

Yeah, he took some bad shots and was clearly pressing. But he took like five times as many layups/shots at the rim as midrange jumpers, which is a win for me. He'll be better once he's not so nervous in the first game.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Tatum will be fine...He just tried to do it by himself tonight, cause the pressure is on him now...after Kyrie left.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

He'll never be a good slasher until he fixes his handle. It's terrible in traffic. How many times has he lost the ball when going inside? It feels like it happens 5 times a game.

I took a step back from posting/reading over the summer and it was quite nice.

As usual, people look past what is actually said in the OP.  My comments are about his game, not about one game.

Simple questions: how has Tatum’s game improved since he came into the league?  What are his star qualities?

Again, these aren’t one game kind of questions.

If you want people to make a commentary on Tatums game you have to give him more than one game into the season to show what skills he has, or has not, developed.
