Well, Steven Adams just hit a corner three on the opening play of his preseason game against Dallas... so maybe Danny and Brad have fallen in love with him?

I thought we were done with trade ideas centered around Hayward while his value is at its lowest...

Hayward looked really solid in the first half before knocking his arm. If he's returned to his old self, which I believe he will, he's much more valuable than Steven Adams.

Plus, I would want to see how Adams goes without Westbrook next to him. Maybe he gets better, maybe he gets worse. I personally think he'll get better, but who knows

Is this guy made of freaking glass?  You're going to get bumped during a basketball game.

Hayward is who he is.  We had a whole season to watch him last year.  There were so many points where he was "Back" I lost track.  Anyone waiting for him to average more than the 11-5-5 he put up last year is going to be really disappointed.
Lol. It was a preseason game and he played most of his minutes in the first half, before he got knocked. It's almost as if they're somewhat precautionary in the preseason :o

I do love your boring and just provably wrong assessments of Hayward. Missed them over the off-season. You can literally just look at his monthly stats and see continued improvement, but you choose not to. TS% in the 60s from Feb through until the Playoffs started, and even in the Playoffs he shot better than our three top guys (Kyrie, Horford and JT). Continually posted a positive Net Rating during this period too, and a strongly positive +/-.
Even despite Brad's poor coaching, where he seemed to bungle the offence entirely, Hayward was still a reliably positive influence on both ends of the floor, and continued to improve throughout.

I wonder when Hayward does average more than 11-5-5 you'll go back to the routine quiet we had from you when his form was good ::)

So his shooting percentages and +/- went up over the season, but he was ultimately just hampered by bad coaching?

Seems like a contradiction and a reach to me...

The much simpler explanation is that he doesn't have the first step to get past the Brook Lopez's of the NBA world anymore.

Rofl, yeah, totally a reach when its the consensus from almost everyone that Brad completely failed last season. Totally reaching there

I don’t know if it was in this thread or another forum but I’d Hayward, R. Williams, theis, 1st for Gallinari and Adams doable and realistic at all?  I know we are getting more talent coming in but does that free up at Okc financially while getting a first?
Sorry if this is completely unrealistic. Is there any piece added that would make this realistic?

I'm honestly not hot on the idea of trading a first alongside those pieces for Adams and Gallo. Adams is on a bloated contract that overpays his garbage man skillset a ton, and imo us trading guys like Theis and Williams compensates OKC well for sending Gallo to Boston as well in exchange for Hayward.

I think that once Theis becomes tradeable (December or January, I forget) that trade is doable. In fact, I only think we signed Theis to that much money for trade reasons down the track.

Now is it realistic? That's a tough one. I really have no idea what OKC's direction is. Do they try and build a contender with Paul, if possible? Do they try and shed as much salary as possible, and rebuild with CP3's awful contract sticking around? I have no idea what their intentions are, so I can't say whether this is realistic for them. Not sure if they want Hayward and Paul on their books, and Gallo is quite an injury concern for us. Need to see how Hayward and Adams go this season before saying whether a trade is realistic, or even beneficial for both sides.

Ooh. I forgot that Hayward’s player option would transfer to OKC. I was thinking they could drop him after this year.

With this idea I’m mainly thinking of putting Tatum in a clearer role. Things seemed to fit well when Tatum was beside horford and Baynes in the front line. I liked the idea of this giving a look at Tatum within s more balanced squad. I’m longing for a big man so bad. Adams isn’t Tim Duncan on d or anything but I’d say he’s above average? His rebounding and maybe even most important he sets good picks. I’d love to get Adams.

People are sleeping on Hayward. I think he’ll have a big impact whenever he’s on the floor. I sincerely hope CBS calls more plays for him. He doesn’t need to score every time to be effective.

Now that Adams has hit a corner 3 in a preseason game, we can call him a stretch 5.

Agree, I think he'll be quite a big piece for us

I would reluctantly trade Hayward if OKC added a future 1st.   And,a big AND Brown signed his rookie extension.     But I don't see OKC trading Adams for Hayward.   I would see them wanting to keep Adams when adding Hayward.

Paul
Hayward
Adams

And the youngsters to compete for the playoffs.

Massive over reactions to Summer League or pre-season are a staple here at CelticsBlog/CelticsStrong. But to have massive over reactions to just one pre-season game, well, that is just special.

Yes, you're probably right - but the fears that were raised last year after two preseason games proved to be well founded (not much ball movement, too many quick threes, chaotic lineup combos). How was the ball movement in this first preseason game - I only saw the highlights ?

Ball movement good. Turnovers and defense were awful.

I'd rather do a small trade with OKC for Noel, than a huge trade for Adams.
