How I Miss the days of Pitino and Carr...maybe we can steal away the Knicks or Suns or Kings GM...They are always fielding competitive teams 😐
Danny can stay as long as he wants. He is a tireless worker and I hope his health holds up. Things can be much worse...remember the 90’s.
True.
The 1990s was absolutely horrible for Celtic fans.
There was no direction.
All the front office cared about making the playoffs even when it had no chance of advancing beyond the 1st round.
The only good thing that happened to the Celts in the 1990s was the drafting of Paul Pierce.
What about Chauncey? Sure he got traded, but that was more about Pitino ****ing up than the draft pick being bad.
True.
I really hated Pitino for trading Billups.
Didn't even give Billups one full season.
That's why I can't include Billups in the positives for the 1990s because his stint was just too short.
I mean why would you trade the #3 pick after just a few months?
Pitino really made a bad decision.
I wasn't born back then, but I'd probably be really p---ed about passing on T-Mac for Ron Mercer at #6 in the draft.
It was a different era.
I remember the 1990s very well because I was always hoping the Celts would get a franchise player.
Regarding Mercer and T-Mac, at that time, Mercer was a good pick.
T-Mac was too much of a risk as he was just a high school player.
Mercer was very athletic and had a killer jump shot.
The problem with Mercer is he was not a good 3-point shooter.
That's why he didn't last long in the NBA.
At the end of the season, Mercer was All-Rookie 1st team and McGrady wasn't on the 1st or 2nd team All-Rookie.
Selecting Mercer over McGrady at that time wasn't a mistake.
Nobody really knew that McGrady would turn into a superstar at that time.
