I understand they were Celtics writers. I followed KoC from CB till now, I'm a huge fan of his. I think giving a guy like Keith Smith credibility because other bloggers have turned into writers is naive. Missing out on "Cool Stuff" sounds like a pretty dangerous path down to fake news and believing everything you read on the internet, I'll pass on that.
Honestly how you phrase it now is sounds pretty reasonable.

Here's where my problem is. This story is based on a quote in his story, on background but still a quote. When you say "take it with a grain of salt" in your original drive by, you're just calling him a liar. Because either a rival team executive either said the quote to him or they didn't.

And your justification is that he's a "blogger" and a "mailman" and often tweets the same stuff Woj does. I think that's beyond reasonable skepticism, unless you have reason to believe he didn't go to Vegas and talk to people.

Stop backseat moderating and please scroll past my posts but I am not the person who made up that rumor. Sorry. Aint got that kind of pull.

I make alot of posts and only a percentage of them were proposed Hayward trades. Mostly because I feel he is redundant on this team with tatum. You can disagree, and that is cool, but telling someone to stop posting is arrogant and rude.
Look it sucks to get criticized, but that's not moderating. But I do think you should contemplate how often you beat the same horse with a stick.

Still a whole lot of off season to go everyone!

If there is threads started and moving along I will add my 2 cents.

Its the reason for a forum.

I dont think a person should be told to not post because another poster doesnt like the subject.

I believe he went to Vegas. I don't believe his quotes or sources. You are saying that because Smith said it, it must be true. Again, that is naive.

I went to Summer League 3 years ago. I sat next to an undrafted player on the plane and spent the majority of the flight talking about free agency and the draft. I met other people in Vegas who were there for summer league. I attended a game and made my own observations. And I could have literally written what he did. So much of it is common sense or pre-reported information with a slight spin. His own observations are tucked in there to fluff it out. It's all fanboy lip-service by someone who is trying to moonlight as an NBA insider.

So an article whose title is "Notes from Summer League" and consists mostly of quotes from various league and team sources on background is framed by you as a negative?

Fun stuff.

As for the part time stuff, I guess I remember where Zach Lowe and Kevin O'Connor started. But I do agree I wouldn't use him as a source on explosive rumors.
Remember where Steve Weinman started too! He is now AGM in Chicago.

From a mods perspective, when a poster starts to push an agenda, in other words posting the same idea/opinion across(many/alot/most)threads they visit and that opinion/idea doesn't pertain to the subject at hand, that gets to the level of trolling and is against site rules.

For that reason, as a mod, I advise to stay on the subject of the thread. This is a thread about Hayward being traded. So, talk away, if people don't like it, they should just move past your post. But, Fafnir has a point that, maybe, not bringing up your dislike of Hayward or Hayward trade ideas across(many/alot/most) threads that have little or nothing to do with Hayward, might get you less push back and not start to give the impression you are trolling to the staff.

Wow I missed a few title bumps!

I remember when I was going to visit him for a Missouri football game but it didn't work out   ;D

I still have a couple private emails in my archives from Steve back when he was on CB, offering me positive feedback on a fan post that I wrote.

Wait ... you are saying that you _could_ have done this (attended SL, spoke to people and wrote an article relaying that experience) .... and you are discrediting that Keith Smith did just that?    Confused ...

The guy is clearly a writer -- whether he is paid by a big media company or not -- he apparently _did_ go to Vegas and _did_ talk to at least some people.   So what if he inserted his own observations and opinions?  He clearly labeled those as such.  Yet you are asserting he's "not credible" .... at doing something you claim you _could_ have done.

Well alright then.

This all seems to boil down to you want to say he's not credible because you want to say he's not credible.   Because, seriously:  You haven't presented a single reason to NOT believe what he wrote is true.   All we've got is you calling him a possible liar.   Believing _your assertions_ wouldn't be any less naive of us.

Certainly any anonymous quote source material should _always_ be taken with a grain of salt.   That's true no matter who wrote the article.   Jackie Mac drives me nuts lately with her penchant for writing "stories" instead of actually reporting news.   But you haven't really presented any reason to undercut Smith's "credibility" here.

I'm claiming I could have made it up, based on my experiences. Don't twist my words.

Edit: how far back did you even read? I posted multiple reasons. Salt even gave the example of him starting the Griffen rumors years ago.

No one has ever doubted you are capable of lying on the internet.

Given that you have accused me of being a sock puppet (the 10 year con finally comes to fruition!) and made a sexual joke I'm done discussing anything with you.

Thanks for summing it up mmmmm so I don't have to engage anymore TP.

Get back on subject. Enough on Keith Smart. If you want to discuss his credibility more, start a thread on it.

Well the credibility stuff did save me time in not researching the topic beyond this thread. So think it was important that people mentioned it. Thanks
