Just came across this article on yahoo and didn't see it posted:

If true this should put the 'Hayward for...' trade talk around here. Seems like Brad and Danny have hope he'll do more this season then just stand at the baseline and watch Kyrie dribble into traffic all game.

I saw rumors of Hayward for Mo Bamba and Fournier recently, assumed it was just speculation but maybe there was some truth to it. Or perhaps the Hayward and draft picks to cleveland for love rumors?

I am still big on Hayward, he was one of my favorite players to watch while in Utah. I am hopeful that he and Kemba have a good chemistry and take off. I could also see him running point/fwd as a 6th man this season. I do have a feeling he'll start the season as our 6th man.

Saying that they quickly turned down a trade does not mean they will not trade him.

It just means that there was an offer they thought was trash. Probably the JR smith + for Hayward and the Memphis pick that was being floated.

His value can't go down; it can only go up. And if it goes up, that means he is worth keeping. If it doesn't go up, it is also worth keeping him for now, because if he stays at his current floor, he would be most valuable to match contracts for a midseason disgruntled star (ie KAT gets upset in Minnesota, etc). Trading him now means you are selling at his lowest point and trying to buy players from teams at the most optimistic time of the year.

Its funny how someone on the internet speculates then it becomes a rumor.  This is one of the most amazing things about the internet.  The ability of humans to turn into sheep never ceases to amaze me.

I still have very high hopes for Hayward.

Quote
"After it was clear Kyrie [Irving] was leaving, I told our owner that we could maybe grab Hayward for nothing if Boston tore it down," the executive told Keith Smith of SB Nation's Celtics Blog. "He's owed a lot of money, but only a couple of years left. We made a call, but it got shut down quickly. I think Danny [Ainge] and Brad [Stevens] know what they have in Hayward for this year and going forward. He's going to be really good again."

I think the "grab him for nothing" part says it all.  This is probably true and not surprising.  A rival GM called Danny with a low ball offer and Danny shut it down quickly.  It doesn't mean Danny is or isn't willing to Trade Hayward if it was a more legit offer.

I just want to see Hayward play well.  He had flashes last season but couldn't maintain any consistency.  I don't think it is unreasonable to expect more consistency this season.  Hayward for 6th man of the year is my hope.  A starting quality player, maybe even fringe all star, coming off the bench but playing starter minutes.  I think he can play well as the SG with say Smart + Tatum and 2 bigs or as a traditional SF in a variety of line ups.  It also would not break my heart if they were able to trade him for a legit big if that is the way this goes.

We're going to need Gordan Hayward on this Celtic team this year, particularly with the loss of Al Horford. Considering neither Tatum or Brown have a lick of playmaking skills.

Hayward is as close to untouchable as anybody in the league just because of his ties to Brad. Danny might be a wheeler and dealer but Hayward is going nowhere unless he asks for it. I don't know why we keep seeing Hayward trade talk around the web. It isn't happening regardless of where his value sits.

The Celtics aren't trading Hayward, no matter how many times fellow posters use the trade machine. He's Brad's guy. Would take the sort of offer that we know is never going to come.

I believe the Celtics think Hayward is going to be worth more to the Celtics and in terms of trades then what is being offered at this point.

Which makes sense considering Hayward's likely improvement as he gets further away from the injury.

I don't think there is any evidence that Stevens has irrational loyalty to Hayward, or that Ainge would also facilitate it. There are plenty of very rational reasons why the team would want to do what it has done so far. The contract only gives a team next year guaranteed, with a player option the year after. The state of his comeback is highly fluid. Ainge is famously focused on value and I'm quite certain he hasn't received an offer that was worth moving him.

He's not here because he's Steven's binkie.

Read the user name... That alone should tell you enough dude.

In what galaxy would the Celtics even bother even adding Memphis pick just to get rid of Hayward's contract?

We should trade Hayward for Obama.
