Does he have a trade lined up where the Celtics need the extra roster spot?

Or are there three guys he wants but only has two two-way contracts?
I would guess we have 3 guys they liked. But who knows, it could be a veteran they liked is still around and decided they were okay with a veteran's minimum with Boston.

Without looking at players profiles I think Danny made 4 of the 7 worst picks in the range 16-30 in the last 15 years ...
Yabu
Melo- rip
JJJ
James young

I bet these four don’t have more than 1500 minutes played in the league in total combined.

That’s why I’m scared of Danny making all these picks

Gotta be one of the worst mid-1st round picks I can remember.  He never came close to looking like an NBA player.

I can't see Waters contract being converted to a one way deal to open up a 2 way deal. Think he is going to Maine. Boston has enough guards with several being very young.

This is either about Tacko being the 15th guy or Danny looking to bring in someone else on the vet min. I think Danny has someone in mind to bring in.

Best for everyone. Yabu is simply not an NBA player. He was taking up space.

LOL that was his best skill.

I know many people think this is about Tacko, but there's still a few vet centers and power-forwards looking for jobs out there. Cap space has nearly disappeared.

I wonder about Noah or Faried.

Tacko is going to be a useful 5 to 8 min player. The guy just alters the opposing teams offensive flow just by standing in the middle with his arms up. He will get the Rob Will treatment.

The income Wyc will generate alone from Tacko's popularity will more than make up already for the salary that will pay him.

Why does this surprise people?
The only question is why...but we should soon know.

Question:  Why do people think it doesn't make sense to open roster spot for a summer leaguer like Tacko or Green.

In the case that it's Tacko, for example, I would assume it's not that he's ready to get any minutes...but that they think there could be some role at some point, and don't want to lose his rights.

Isn't it all about rights, not current readiness?

This is either about Tacko being the 15th guy or Danny looking to bring in someone else on the vet min. I think Danny has someone in mind to bring in.

Between Kanter, Poirier, Williams, and Theis, the Celts already have 4 guys who can man the 5 spot.  Add in Grant and they have 5 pure big men.  Doesn't really make sense to sign Tacko.

Looking at the depth chart I think it would make the most sense to add a seasoned veteran combo guard or 2/3.

Ray Felton, Justin Holiday, Vince Carter, Shelvin Mack, Ian Clark ... just some examples.

I mean we also passed on Wade Baldwin/Henry Ellenson/Brice Johnson  ;)

Clearly a bad pick who never did much, but that's what happens when you go into it predetermined to stash a player.

I’m surprised at the timing, but not the result.  I thought he’d get a chance to get through training camp.  I wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d been cut at that point.

The interesting thing will be if they stretch him, which would create a small amount of cap room, or if they just take the full hit this year.

dont forget his successful picking while you are assessing his drafting prowness. he has a lot of those.

also compare his mid range picks to those of other GMs, using the same critieria. danny does an above average job.

And Furkan Korkmuz and Timothy Luwawu...

We needed to draft stashable players for cap space this year.  Unfortunately there weren’t any stashables.
