@wojespn tells @notthefakeSVP that he doesn't even think there's an MLE deal available for DeMarcus Cousins. Wow.

everyone saw him play in the playoffs and looked pretty bad on def and his athleticism just hasn't returned.
it is telling that he is garnering so little interest.
cousins available for the minimum

I'll take it

Me too. I don't think a team in need of legit size should turn up its nose at a former all-star who can be had for peanuts. If he doesn't work out, no big deal. If he does, awesome.

If he's available for the minimum, absolutely. We can always sit him if it doesn't work out. I just didn't think he would be available for the minimum.

He got absolutely torched in pick and roll switches over and over and over again in the finals. I like his ability to make plays on defense that create possessions, but when he's not doing that he's a huge liability.

And I don't see how much he'd really add to our already good looking offense, so I'll pass. Although, it's tempting to have another big body to throw at Embiid though.

I mean, he had barely returned from catastrophic injury. Hasn't he been a pretty significant positive on the defensive end most of his career?

IMO there are serious questions about attitude and health, but ability to score and defend aren't an issue. He was putting up 25/13/5 on 58% TS before the injury, with something like 8 years running of a positive DBPM. Maybe he'll never fit into a team concept, but it's not clear to me that he's ever been anything but a net positive on both ends of the floor throughout his career.

My impression had always been that he is the kind of guy that can create possessions on the defensive end (which he can still do), but gives up on the defensive end when either his offensive game isn't working or when he's not getting calls he thinks he should be getting.  I didn't see that so much in GSW to be honest.  But I never saw him get abused so badly by guards as I did in the finals.  He also committed a shocking amount of fouls all season long when I watched.

If this was 7 days ago, I would absolutely say "maybe you're right" in that it could have just been the injury.  But with 30 other NBA GMs seeming to be on my side right now, I'm feeling somewhat confident in my assessment of what I saw in him during that series.  That doesn't mean I won't be proven wrong.  Just my take.

EDIT: found a video breaking down his defense if you are interested to watch
NBA Finals Game 2, not as much guard abuse as later in series - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctYeIo80TFM

I think there is a path to give Boogie about $11 million using cap space

renounce Theis, you can resign using the vet min possibly

renounce Horford and Kyrie.

execute the trade with Phoenix using the pick swap, hang on to Baynes for the moment.

at this moment I calculate there would be around 11 million dollars of cap space you can use to sign boogie

find a cap space to trade mook to starting at around 13 million, find cap space to dump Yabu and Ojeyele. This part would require some draft incentive.

execute mega trade of
sign and trade of Rozier to the Hornets,
sign and trade of Morris into cap space
Baynes to Phoenix
Yabu and Ojeyele into cap space or exception

In order to sign Kemba.

I don't believe that boogie is coming here for the min, I don't think it's a coincidence that he is also talking to the Heat and they are still trying to create more salary room by dumping contracts on the Mavs. i believe the Celtics may be trying to do something similar. Hence the chatter that Ainge isn't done dealing.

thinking about it again I think the more realistic option is a sign and trade with Golden State with his salary starting at 6.4 million. Yabu and Semi would need to be dumped somewhere into cap space or an exception.

I mean, best case is he returns and becomes the second best big in the East (unless you include Giannis as a big-man).

I literally have no idea what the worst case is. He's never seemed to actually clash with teammates, which is good. I dunno, at this stage go for it, lol.

If DeMarcus returned to 25/12 and Gordy returned to Utah this team is a really big problem though! Fantasy, but who cares, that's the fun!

I think anyone coming to this team other than the rookies should be given a little credit for character because everyone knows what went down here last year. These new guys agreeing to join understand the locker room was divided and heads butted on and off the court to a high enough level that it's two best players are gone. These players must trust themselves as good social people that get along with teammates. Cousins seems a lot more mature now so maybe he wouldn't be a bad locker room guy.

We often got killed on the boards last year.  Currently, we've replaced Horford and Baynes with only Kanter.  We need more front court help.

Evidently I am missing something, I don’t see a pathway to signing DeMarcus Cousins unless we can somehow work out a sign and trade with Golden State, but even then, Golden State can only sign him up to roughly 6 or $7 million, so I just don’t see how this Celtics and Danny – are able to pull it off.

I think the Cs learned their lesson last year with regards to chemistry.  I doubt they bring in Cousins unless they are 100% sure he is not a problem.  And if he becomes one, they will trade or release him immediately, so he is not going to get any significant money.

When was the last time Cousins was actually a chemistry problem? His on-court antics have definitely bothered me before, but I genuinely can't remember when he was a problem in the locker-room

So let me get this straight.

People give hayward the benefit of the doubt 2 years after his injury.

But cousins is washed up garbage after only 1 year. Tearing his quad...you know that eas bothering him leading up to the tear as well.

If this team can add cousins at even only 60% then he is the best big on the team
