Good point by Scott Souza.  With Rozier being in the deal at whatever, $19M, we get a big trade exception, right?  Does anyone know what it would end up being based on what we know?  Then if we sign and trade Horford for some more exception, we are in really good shape to bring in more players.

Horford's not a restricted free-agent. But Souza's point remains about a TPE for Rozier

I’m not sure that Souza is right about the TPE based upon what we know now.

My understanding is we won't generate a TPE. We are in essence trading the combine outgoing salary of Rozier and Irving for the incoming salary of Kemba allowing us to be an over the cap team. That means we maintain Horford, Mooks rights and the MLE but do not generate a TPE

That’s my expectation.  And then we could use Horford to get a giant TPE, potentially.

Because Terry Rozier was restricted, Charlotte theoretically has to do a sign-and-trade to ensure #Celtics don't match (they would not have). But even if this doesn't lead to Al Horford returning, the trade exception could be huge for C's filling frontcourt canyon. @CelticsCLNS

What he is saying is that because Rozier is in the trade at such a high number, we will end up with a trade exception that we can obviously use to bring in other players.  I don't know enough cap/CBA details to know what this exception will end up being but it will be over $10M or in that range, right? (based on what we know know that for Boston it is Kyrie+Rozier out and Walker in).

Yeah, by itself we can't do a Rozier S&T AND sign Kemba. The idea is that we'd do the S&T with Brooklyn simultaneously to send Rozier's outgoing BYC salary in addition to the $20.1M Kyrie TPE as a trade for Kemba, which would allow us to keep Horford's and Mook's free agent rights to go over the cap and sign them if wanted. Without Brooklyn helping us out there's no way to keep Al and get any TPE for Rozier.

What we could do is S&T Al elsewhere and use Rozier's outgoing BYC salary as the trade for Kemba, which would allow us to keep Mook's rights and have access to the bigger MLE, but we obviously wouldn't keep Al in that scenario.

Best case scenario might now be to sign and trade al for a massive trade exception, use that to bring in a center like capella, Adam's, Drummond, ect. And still have the MLE.

Why does Al not want back?.

Now that the mal content is gone, and with a new PG, it's in Al's best interest and chance at a ring with us than any other team?

What about Derrick Favors?

I know Lakers have sights on him if Kawhi doesn’t join them.

Three team Boston  S&T deal dead, per Marks.

Just double S&T with Charlotte

This may change if they get a commitment from Al, though. No need to keep that Milwaukee pick for next year now if Al resigns. The question is whether that would be enough.

Must be the Memphis pick that was holding this up.  Why would the Nets want anything less?
