Woj saying DeAndre Jordan's deal is 4yrs/40m
Wow! I guess he really will be backing up Allen

Jordan is 3 years younger than Horford
I think Jordan has become sort of underrated now honestly. He just put up a season of 11PPG, 13RPG and 2.3APG. He was also a better free throw shooter than Jaylen Brown.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

Per Woj:

Quote
Five-time All-Star F/C Al Horford has agreed to a four-year, $109M deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, agent Jason Glushon tells ESPN.

Well F...  Looks like Danny didn’t want to pay that much for him. Can’t really blame him.

That’s a pretty awkward fit, if you ask me. Simmons, Richardson, Harris, Al, and Embiid is big but not too much shooting, and Al simply isn’t going to be able to guard fours out on the perimeter full-time anymore.

Who's going to guard Al and Embiid though? That's almost as good as a Big Al and AD frontcourt.

They will get killed by a small ball lineup. Al is just not that quick to play at the 4 anymore and Embiid is  too slow to defend the pnr.

Yeah, they’re big, but they’re going to get killed by small lineups. Al simply is not a full-time four. You could see that he was starting to slip in speed and lateral movement this year, and that was him primarily at the five. What’s more, at the five his three point shot was the key, but it’s average or less than average as a full-time four in today’s NBA, especially with his dip in shooting last year.

The fit is just really, really suspect to me. And that’s going to be a lot of money for Al in a few years.

I’m really bummed by him leaving but this is how I see it too. I don’t really see how those two play major minutes together

Yeah, if anything I think better load management of both Embiid and Al and being able to play Al at the 5 when Embiid sits are the best parts of this signing.

For the first time in his career it’s likely that Al won’t be out on the court late in games against most teams. They’re going to find out quick that he simply can’t guard the four full-time in today’s NBA.

This could be, but 109 million for that is mind blowing
Only 97M is guaranteed.  I think you both are underestimating Al and Embiid.  Al is going to spend half his time backing up Embiid but he'll be on the court with Embiid late in games.  If they'd have kept Butler instead of Harris, it would have been a homerun.  Losing Butler hurts their defense against wings and guards but more importantly he filled the go to scorer role.   Embiid can only do so much as a big.  Simmons and/or Harris are going to have to pickup some of the closer load.

I haven't watched the Heat play in forever.  How good on D is Richardson?  I assume he's better than Redick.

I’ll repeat 97 million guaranteed is insane for a 33 year old guy that didn’t make the all star game last year (and I really love him). I would be really troubled if they had kept butler instead of Harris and got al. Who is their closer now? Richardson is a better layer than reddick but probably worse for what the 76ers need, shooting. Richardson was 35% last year (And reddick I believe had a down year but was traditionally a lot better than that). Down one 20 seconds left who gets the last shot for Philly? Simmons and Horford really can’t create at all, and embiid seemed to do pretty bad In these situations when refs swallow their whistle.

I'm not sure how Ed Davis plays well every year and still gets underpaid. Good contract.

Would like it if we could pinch their former big man in Favors.

Jazz have really got a nice team now

The dominoes have already fallen, but nothing on Kawhi Leonard.

I just hope he does not go to the Lakers.

Unless we expand our S&T, we're stuck with a $4.8 million exception.  It kind of sucks.

I think the Celts are gonna end up with a pretty lame starting C situation. Pretty much unavoidable.

That's the only thing they truly miss. A guard that can open up space and be counted on late in games. Can you imagine a guy like Lou Will on that team?

Feels like a foregone conclusion to me.

Lakers - Sixers finals next year.

They still have money to grab shooters... but it’s a great question what they’re going to be. Could be a very very tough defensive team that has trouble scoring. I am still waiting for ppl to realize they should not bite on Embiid’s pump fakes from 3.
