Looks like Danny didn’t want to pay that much for him. Can’t really blame him. That’s a pretty awkward fit, if you ask me. Simmons, Richardson, Harris, Al, and Embiid is big but not too much shooting, and Al simply isn’t going to be able to guard fours out on the perimeter full-time anymore.Who's going to guard Al and Embiid though? That's almost as good as a Big Al and AD frontcourt. They will get killed by a small ball lineup. Al is just not that quick to play at the 4 anymore and Embiid is too slow to defend the pnr.Yeah, they’re big, but they’re going to get killed by small lineups. Al simply is not a full-time four. You could see that he was starting to slip in speed and lateral movement this year, and that was him primarily at the five. What’s more, at the five his three point shot was the key, but it’s average or less than average as a full-time four in today’s NBA, especially with his dip in shooting last year. The fit is just really, really suspect to me. And that’s going to be a lot of money for Al in a few years.I’m really bummed by him leaving but this is how I see it too. I don’t really see how those two play major minutes togetherYeah, if anything I think better load management of both Embiid and Al and being able to play Al at the 5 when Embiid sits are the best parts of this signing. For the first time in his career it’s likely that Al won’t be out on the court late in games against most teams. They’re going to find out quick that he simply can’t guard the four full-time in today’s NBA.This could be, but 109 million for that is mind blowingOnly 97M is guaranteed. I think you both are underestimating Al and Embiid. Al is going to spend half his time backing up Embiid but he'll be on the court with Embiid late in games. If they'd have kept Butler instead of Harris, it would have been a homerun. Losing Butler hurts their defense against wings and guards but more importantly he filled the go to scorer role. Embiid can only do so much as a big. Simmons and/or Harris are going to have to pickup some of the closer load. I haven't watched the Heat play in forever. How good on D is Richardson? I assume he's better than Redick. I’ll repeat 97 million guaranteed is insane for a 33 year old guy that didn’t make the all star game last year (and I really love him). I would be really troubled if they had kept butler instead of Harris and got al. Who is their closer now? Richardson is a better layer than reddick but probably worse for what the 76ers need, shooting. Richardson was 35% last year (And reddick I believe had a down year but was traditionally a lot better than that). Down one 20 seconds left who gets the last shot for Philly? Simmons and Horford really can’t create at all, and embiid seemed to do pretty bad In these situations when refs swallow their whistle.

Ugh: Ed Davis, Nerlens, DeAndre... why o why are the Celtics just anathema to rebounding bigs?
Quote from: trickybilly on June 30, 2019, 10:16:57 PMUgh: Ed Davis, Nerlens, DeAndre... why o why are the Celtics just anathema to rebounding bigs?we need a new GM . He went away from the winning formula , get the bigs first ..Philly tanked until 7 footers at an all star level were available , rejecting all others until the keepers came alone .
The Mavericks will acquire Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones from the Heat as part of the Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade, league sources say.
I think the Celts are gonna end up with a pretty lame starting C situation. Pretty much unavoidable.
SMH are we really going into this season relying on Theis and Timelord?? Come on.. Robin Lopez. Kanter. O'Quinn. Vonleh. Get someone!

(I’m actually pretty excited to see Timelord’s growth this year. I think he has a lot of potential as a defensive anchor for the team who also has good passing instincts. People undervalue him. There will be growing pains sure, but we’re not winning anything next year anyways so why not?)

Free agent Nerlens Noel has asked OKC for time to re-evaluate their earlier commitment on a new deal, and sides are continuing discussions, league sources tell ESPN.
