Man, the Dallas Mavericks are a Euro Shooting Guard away from fully being able to start an all European starting 5.

Goran Dragic - Luka Doncic - Maxi Kleber - Kristaps Prozingis.

Trade Tim Hardaway, Jr. for Mario Hezonja or something. LOL
Sacramento's Bogdanovic would fit ;D

So the only big free agents still out there are Kawhi and Dangelo Russell?

If the Lakers miss out on both, they created that cap space for nothing

Well who do we pivot to now?

Hopefully we can still get one of Brooklyn or Philly to play ball and do the sign and trade to get us the full MLE.

But I’m excited to throw some big minutes at Timelord and see what he’s got.
Get this dark feeling we're going to sign Boogie, lol,

I think Boogie will be back with Golden State.

I'd take him here, although I don't know if Stevens would.

What about Derrick Favors?  I believe the Jazz declined his team option with other moves they made so he is now a FA.

I'm really hopeful that they do. I can live with them signing Russell, but the Lakers having 3 top 8 guys in the league would suck

Free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are taking less than the max to allow DeAndre Jordan to get the $10M annual salary with Brooklyn, league sources tell ESPN.

DeAndre Jordan has agreed to four-year, $40M deal with the Nets, Excel Sports agent Jeff Schwartz tells ESPN.

Per Woj:

Quote
Five-time All-Star F/C Al Horford has agreed to a four-year, $109M deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, agent Jason Glushon tells ESPN.

Well F...  Looks like Danny didn’t want to pay that much for him. Can’t really blame him.

That’s a pretty awkward fit, if you ask me. Simmons, Richardson, Harris, Al, and Embiid is big but not too much shooting, and Al simply isn’t going to be able to guard fours out on the perimeter full-time anymore.

Who's going to guard Al and Embiid though? That's almost as good as a Big Al and AD frontcourt.

They will get killed by a small ball lineup. Al is just not that quick to play at the 4 anymore and Embiid is  too slow to defend the pnr.

Yeah, they’re big, but they’re going to get killed by small lineups. Al simply is not a full-time four. You could see that he was starting to slip in speed and lateral movement this year, and that was him primarily at the five. What’s more, at the five his three point shot was the key, but it’s average or less than average as a full-time four in today’s NBA, especially with his dip in shooting last year.

The fit is just really, really suspect to me. And that’s going to be a lot of money for Al in a few years.

I’m really bummed by him leaving but this is how I see it too. I don’t really see how those two play major minutes together

Yeah, if anything I think better load management of both Embiid and Al and being able to play Al at the 5 when Embiid sits are the best parts of this signing.

For the first time in his career it’s likely that Al won’t be out on the court late in games against most teams. They’re going to find out quick that he simply can’t guard the four full-time in today’s NBA.

This could be, but 109 million for that is mind blowing
Only 97M is guaranteed.  I think you both are underestimating Al and Embiid.  Al is going to spend half his time backing up Embiid but he'll be on the court with Embiid late in games.  If they'd have kept Butler instead of Harris, it would have been a homerun.  Losing Butler hurts their defense against wings and guards but more importantly he filled the go to scorer role.   Embiid can only do so much as a big.  Simmons and/or Harris are going to have to pickup some of the closer load.

I haven't watched the Heat play in forever.  How good on D is Richardson?  I assume he's better than Redick.

They can still sign ring-chasers and veteran players. A James/Davis duo is pretty tough to beat.

Durant and Irving are apparently taking less than the Max to swing that.

It's kind of hilarious how good this summer has been for Brooklyn.

I enjoy watching Kyrie and KD play basketball, usually, so I look forward to a healthy version of the team. I wonder how Kenny Atkinson will handle things.

Not if they have literally 20% of a roster, which is what they have now. They need something, and ring-chasing veterans aren't the answer.
