I know PHI sort of had to do it, but good grief Tobias Harris getting 5/180M?  :o

Honestly if Butler leaves, I think PHI regresses. Already lost Reddick and their bench remains thin.
If Butler leaves they'll have plenty of space to shore up their bench.  Harris only has a cap hold of 22M so he won't sign until they have.

Question: Is Keith Smith reliable?

He just tweeted that a 3-team deal could still happen and it's not dead.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
$36 million a year for tobias harris? wow.
Considering some of the other contracts given so far I wouldn't consider that a wow.

Remove your Sixers fandom for a few minutes and reassess.

Thanks.
He actually took a bit less than his full Max.  If you all thought a near all-star was going to sign for much less than that, you need to go back to remedial NBA financials course.

It's a lot of money, but not a surprise - I fully expected Harris to get the max (or just about). At least Philly didn't lose the MIA pick and Shamet for a rental; Harris will be a big part of their team moving forward. He is a really good player (still probably overpaid, though).

So, right now, both Kawhi Leonard and Tobias Harris are max guys:  :o :o :o

NBA salary structure and overall CBA is an absolute joke. In what sport is the best player in the world only allowed to make the same as mid-tier all-stars?

I think it's safe to say that Kawhi is definitely leaving the East. Just depends on which LA it is. SAS is saying the noise is picking up on the Clips.

Please go to LAC.  That would be great for Clips and IMO great for the league.  LAL with 3 top 10 players (maybe 3 top 5) is ridiculous.

What does everyone think? About $1.7-$2.0 billion in total contract value will be agreed to today? That is sick.

It's only the player's fair share of the revenue.

Hearing that there is possibility the the Nets could revive S&T talks with the Boston Celtics for Kyrie Irving.

Deals are agreed to, but a ton of moving parts for how these deals are actually executed before anything can be official on 7/6.

It's Keith Smith, so it's probably just an educated guess at best; however, this has always made sense. Boston isn't going to do this deal unless they can get Al to commit to resign. I'm guessing they weren't going to offer any first round pick to Brooklyn to take this deal unless they get Al to commit first, as they can still get Al to do a S&T to keep the full MLE if he leaves for probably a cheaper price.

Interesting that people are saying Harris is an overpay but the Nets won free agency with Durant. At least Harris can walk and doesn’t have a potential career ending injury...
The green colored goggles are thick on here.  If they re-sign Butler it will be bad.  If they do a sign-and-trade with him it will be bad.  Heck if Butler walks and they got Kawhi, it would somehow be a bad day for the Sixers.

So where the heck was Al going to get that 4 year deal worth over $100 million? You would think that would have already been announced by now.

You’re right, but he’s still Tobias Harris, a guy that’s on his 5th NBA team. He’s a solid player, but nowhere near the contract he received. The Sixers bid against themselves, probably as a result of them losing assets for him and then losing Redick. This will be a team crippling contract.

Is it safe to say that? Not sure that this is true. Could very well see him return to Toronto.

But, yeah, hopefully if he does leave it's to the Clippers not the Lakers. I'll lose so much respect for him if he goes to the Lakers. That would be so weak.

Apparently, steam is picking up that Kawhi and Butler could go to LAC together.
