How does a Kemba for Rozier S&T work?  What are the other outgoing assets?

I literally have no idea how this works. Would the rest of Kemba's salary come back and fit in the cap space??

NBA radio said it gives the Celtics the full $9 million for another fa

Yeah, but it doesn't work in its current form.

Sending out Rozier isn't enough to get Kemba here.

Rozier's outgoing salary in a deal is only around $9 million.  Kemba's incoming salary is $32 million from Boston's perspective.

There have to be other pieces involved.
And on the other end Kemba is a BYC player so only counts as $16.35 outgoing but need $32.7 +/- 125%  coming back. Should be interesting to see how they complete this.

Could be as simple as incorrect reporting. They reported a S&T as finalized when it was only tentative assuming the Nets signed on to the 3-team trade.
and then there is:
From Albert Nahmad:

"Even if 3-team variant (incl. Nets) dies, Celtics and Hornets could still execute two-team S&T, where Celtics take Kemba Walker ($32.7M) into cap room and Hornets acquire Terry Rozier ($17.9M) in trade-match to BYC-adjusted salary of Walker ($16.4M). (CHA to compensate BOS?)"

i have NO idea how any of this works folks.
That would mean we'd only have the room exception to use.  No non-taypayer MLE.  No BAE.

Bobby Marks:

3-team S&T deal likely dead among Brooklyn, Boston, and Charlotte (unless they compensate Brooklyn, whcih they're not wanting to do yet). Though it was intimated that that could change if Al does give them indications that he would resign. Says that he doesn't think Al will be back in Boston.

Says right now it looks like a double S&T with just Boston and Charlotte - which I guess it means that we take the rest of Kemba's salary back in cap space? I'm not sure how that really works out.

Interesting.

Rozier starting at 17 or 18, yabusele, langford is really close to completing a deal

Or just pony up a pick and make it a 3 team deal

Or danny can cave and give a pick.

As has been explained ad nauseam over the past few weeks - that's not how this works because of Rozier being a Base Year Compensation player, so his outgoing salary only counts for 50% of his first year contract. So that package isn't coming anywhere close to being enough to match salary, let alone the fact that langford isn't even signed yet and can't be traded as a salary yet.

That said - I guess the way this would work between just Boston and Charlotte is that we just take the rest of Kemba's salary into our open cap space? We all need salty to provide some clarification about this.
Isn't Kemba also a BYC player in a sign-and-trade so we'd only be matching 16M+?

Nope, we count his full incoming salary.

Correct, that's why double S&Ts are very rare due to being so complicated lol

Yeah, the only way I can theorize this working as just a straight up double S&T is if we renounce everyone outside of Rozier and Theis and take the rest of Kemba's salary (around $23M) into cap space - though I don't know if the numbers work out with that and if that's even a legal move.

It's going to be important for Charlotte, as a S&T is the only way that they can get Rozier. Would love to get some clarification about this. I'm sure we haven't heard anything about the logistics of this yet because it's a fluid situation with Danny trying to get other teams involved, let alone Horford to resign.

I imagine that if Horford ends up going elsewhere we'll do a S&T with him to finish the deal.

Exactly how it's stated.

Boston absorbs Kemba's salary via cap space

Charlotte absorbs Terry salary via traded player exception (Kemba's base year salary + $5m).

Yeah, this is what I figured would happen if it is just Charlotte and Boston. Obviously the least ideal situation. If Al leaves we'll end up S&Ting him to keep the full MLE I bet.

I was close.  I said 5yr/175M for both Harris and Butler.  There is no player option.

5 years $180 for Harris to PHI is ridiculous. I guess that means Al isn't going there.

Wow, that's a lot of money for Harris.

has to think that takes them out of the Horford sweepstakes, right? That's clearly an ill fit of Embiid, Horford, and Harris. Both Horford and Harris would likely be playing out of position.

Have to think that, right? That's a really poor fit if so. Good news for us.

Foolish move by Philly.  I love it.
