Bobby Marks:
3-team S&T deal likely dead among Brooklyn, Boston, and Charlotte (unless they compensate Brooklyn, whcih they're not wanting to do yet). Though it was intimated that that could change if Al does give them indications that he would resign. Says that he doesn't think Al will be back in Boston.
Says right now it looks like a double S&T with just Boston and Charlotte - which I guess it means that we take the rest of Kemba's salary back in cap space? I'm not sure how that really works out.
Interesting.
Rozier starting at 17 or 18, yabusele, langford is really close to completing a deal
Or just pony up a pick and make it a 3 team deal
Or danny can cave and give a pick.
As has been explained ad nauseam over the past few weeks - that's not how this works because of Rozier being a Base Year Compensation player, so his outgoing salary only counts for 50% of his first year contract. So that package isn't coming anywhere close to being enough to match salary, let alone the fact that langford isn't even signed yet and can't be traded as a salary yet.
That said - I guess the way this would work between just Boston and Charlotte is that we just take the rest of Kemba's salary into our open cap space? We all need salty to provide some clarification about this.
Isn't Kemba also a BYC player in a sign-and-trade so we'd only be matching 16M+?
Nope, we count his full incoming salary.
Correct, that's why double S&Ts are very rare due to being so complicated lol
Yeah, the only way I can theorize this working as just a straight up double S&T is if we renounce everyone outside of Rozier and Theis and take the rest of Kemba's salary (around $23M) into cap space - though I don't know if the numbers work out with that and if that's even a legal move.
It's going to be important for Charlotte, as a S&T is the only way that they can get Rozier. Would love to get some clarification about this. I'm sure we haven't heard anything about the logistics of this yet because it's a fluid situation with Danny trying to get other teams involved, let alone Horford to resign.
I imagine that if Horford ends up going elsewhere we'll do a S&T with him to finish the deal.
