Apparently, steam is picking up that Kawhi and Butler could go to LAC together.

Where you hearing this? This would be good news for us.

Unfortunately... I now realize that someone was simply paraphrasing from Stephen A. Smith  :P

BUT remember, Stein himself reported this earlier in the day that this was an option. Now that Harris re-signed in PHI, it's still a legit possibility.

Would effectively mean we have to be getting Al back. I don’t think anyone would really be in a position to sign him (Lakers don’t make sense with the log jam upfront and Knicks just got Randle)

$36 million a year for tobias harris? wow.
Considering some of the other contracts given so far I wouldn't consider that a wow.

Remove your Sixers fandom for a few minutes and reassess.

Thanks.
He actually took a bit less than his full Max.  If you all thought a near all-star was going to sign for much less than that, you need to go back to remedial NBA financials course.

It's a lot of money, but not a surprise - I fully expected Harris to get the max (or just about). At least Philly didn't lose the MIA pick and Shamet for a rental; Harris will be a big part of their team moving forward. He is a really good player (still probably overpaid, though).
Most of the contracts given out so far are overpays.  The value contracts are for the true stars and good rookies.

Exactly.

Overpaying for a guy that is more talented, but not as good a fit for a guy you had on a much better contract (Covington) is a horrible trade off.

Imagine being a Knicks fan right now
LOL. Can't wait for the NY newspapers' sports sections tomorrow. The first bunch of pages will be on the Nets and the Knicks might get a tiny 2" x 2" section in the corner of the first page saying Knicks signed Randle(Story on page 7 of sports section).

Imagine being a Knicks fan right now

Just saw some one say..."I'm disappointed in the Knicks and I am too taking my talents to Brooklyn."

Big names we haven't heard much about still: Kawhi, Horford, Butler, (and to a lesser extent D-Lo).

Once one or two of those shoes drop, a lot will become clearer.

I know PHI sort of had to do it, but good grief Tobias Harris getting 5/180M?  :o

Honestly if Butler leaves, I think PHI regresses. Already lost Reddick and their bench remains thin.
If Butler leaves they'll have plenty of space to shore up their bench.  Harris only has a cap hold of 22M so he won't sign until they have.
Wait don’t they need to shore up their starting lineup before their bench? You are taking about them losing 40% of their lineup

Stephen A

I hope so.   Just seems that the NBA balance of power is impacted enormously by Kawhi's decision.  He goes to Clips and it's a frenzy out West -- I would think that's great overall for the league.  Goes to LAL and it's good night - LBJ, AD and KL would be dominant.

Just saw about OKC keeping Noel. That sucks. He'd been a good backup option.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Bucks have lost brogdon, 76ers have lost reddick and may lose butler, Toronto could lose Leonard. Outside of the pacers this could not be going better for the Celtics. Bring back al!

They didn't trade Covington for Harris.  They traded Covington and Saric for Butler.
Covington is a really nice role player but we exposed his limitations in the playoffs the previous season.  Covington's streaky shooting and inability to drive by a blind, lame girl scout made easy to layoff him at times.  Can't have that when you've also got Simmons.

If Kawhi leaves Toronto, the East is suddenly open. We'd certainly be in the mix for Top-4 in the East.

They are saying Magic spoke with Kawhi (Ramona)and Perkins said it could happen as well.  Will there be a new super team for Lebronnie?

Big3 twitter says Kawhi is confirmed to Lakers..sure that cant be legit, right.
