The Clippers are exploring the feasibility of signing both Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler in free agency, @NYTSports has learned

@TheSteinLine
Leonard wants to be joined by a top-flight free agent if he decides to leave Toronto for the Clippers and Butler's rugged two-way game makes for an intriguing pairing. Clippers adviser Jerry West is also a known admirer of Butler

9:12 PM - 29 Jun 2019

Interesting.

I still think Kawhi stays in Toronto, but if he does leave I really hope it's for the Clippers w/another star joining him.

Anyone but the Lakers.

I still believe horford amd leonard go there.

My dream right now is 2 fold.
Sign and trade flat earth to brooklyn.
Tpe and filler to charlotte
Kemba to boston.

Then sign and trade horford to lac for assets/contracts (harrell plus)

Not only are we avsuper fun team, but lac can add butler, leonard and horford and be the best team in la again.

Shai
Butler
Kawhi
Gallinari
Horford
There's no way LAC give up Harrell just to be able to sign Horford

Maybe. If they want 2 max free i believe they need the sign amd trade for someone to make the space. I think they have 60ish committed right now.

So sign kawhi and maybe trade gallinari for butler whixh works for both teams and leaves them with enough space mibus harrell for horford. So i believe it would be a numbers game.

I think horford is a fantastic add for them and certainly carries far more value than harrell.

I dont think its really even cloae in terma of value.

Horford would improve them. Horford would be a great add and imo kawhi and horford alone is great for that team. But if they can also add butler i think they are championship favorites.

Shai
Butler
Kawhi
Gallinari
Harrell/zubac

Or

Shai
Butler
Kawhi
Horford
Zubac

I like option 2 alot more personally, horford playing off kawhi and butler would be lethal
I think you're grossly underrating Harrell. He was in my opinion their best player in the playoffs, is still young and played 82 games last season plus 76 the year before. He's a young, durable aggressive scorer who has shown an ability to pass the ball, and steps up his game when it counts. Plus, when his current contract expires he will likely still not demand the kind of money Al will be earning.

Who knows how Horford will age, but I don't get the feeling that it will go extremely well. He's getting more niggling injuries, playing less minutes and is slowing down on defence. I love Al, but I don't know if he's worth the massive cost of his contract plus having to dump Harrell

I agree, Harrell is a very nice piece. I dont think he is horford though. Perhaps in 2 years he will be better, maybe next season, but based on horford last 4 seasons of work I dont really see a reason to depreciate his value that much/

Al could still return:

Unfortunately I wouldn't trust Keith Smith much as an "insider"  :-\

Me neither, but he’s done a good job at marketing himself as such.

Several NBA officials contend the 76ers will make the biggest play in free agency for Bucks Malcolm Brogdon, especially if Jonathan Redick bolts. New Orleans has shown an interest in the veteran sharpshooter. The Bulls are also Brogdon suitors.

Jonathan Redick? Is he in trouble with his mom or something?

Stein reports (EDIT: more like confirms a bunch of other reporting) Sacramento will make a "huge offer" to Horford.  He'd be an interesting fit there - should get them into the playoffs but looks like they're spending the rest of the money on Barnes which won't get them much farther. Still they were my most fun non-Cs team to watch last year so I'd love to see him help them out.

A confirmed Al Horford suitor at last: The Kings "definitely" have significant interest in Horford, according to sources briefed on Sacramento's thinking -- and have the cap space to pay Al the reported four-year deal worth in excess of $100 million circulating for the past week

A well-placed league source tells The Sacramento Bee the Kings are expected to make a massive offer to Al Horford when free agency begins at 3 p.m. PDT, and there is mutual interest on both sides. I'm told Horford's camp has not scheduled meetings with any teams today.

I’d like to see Horford sign with NO, he would fit that team really well.

It's a very Kings thing to do and it will probably blow up in their faces.  They shouldn't be tying up that much money in a 33 year old player.  Don't know how much they're going to offer Barnes but that will probably be a bad decision too.

I don't mind the fit there. He'll definitely help stabilize them and he can play next to Bagley, Barnes and Giles. I actually like that fit for both sides.

It's not a move that progresses you much toward contention but for a team like Sacramento just making the playoffs and being respectable might be enough for them. As is having a strong vet influence on the younger guys. He'll help with that. Barnes I can't justify nearly as much - he's not a lousy player but is pretty empty calories overall.

Sam Amick now saying the Kings also expect Horford will go somewhere else in spite of their author. One of those mystery suitors like Dallas or a Plan B for the Clippers or something? Just please not Lakers, Brooklyn or Philly. Anywhere else is cool.

I'm going to guess that Wiggins gets traded to Charlotte.  Jordan will want someone with a "name" to replace Kemba and Wiggins is locked up for 4 seasons.

I'm with Fafnir re: Horford. Happy for the guy, will root for him as long as he's not playing against the Celts, but please no Sixers, Lakers, or Nets.

There are some league executives that believe the "mystery team" for Al Horford is...the Boston Celtics.

But keeping Horford's rights would require a number of complicated maneuvers, including a double sign-and-trade involving Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier. It wouldn't be easy.
