Sources: Damian Lillard working toward $196M supermax extension with Trail Blazers

OAKLAND, Calif. — Four-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard, his representatives and Portland Trail Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey are meeting in Oakland on Sunday to finalize a four-year, supermax extension worth approximately $196 million, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The four-year deal, which will begin in 2021-22, includes a player option in the final year, sources said.

Jimmy Butler wants to play for Miami..that will change alot of teams plans
Unmitigated disaster for Philly. They gave up all their assets to get Butler/Harrisband thee is a very real chance they lose both today.

If Butler just doesn’t want to be in Philly, I don’t think there’s a point in PHL just offering a full max to try and keep him. And unhappy Butler will unhinge that entire locker room.
Not really.  They only gave up Covington and Saric for Butler.  If Miami and Butler really want each other, Miami is going to have to fork over quite a bit to get it done.  The Sixers can always just let Butler walk and use the 20M cap space that would free up.   If they negotiate well with Miami, the Sixers could easily come out ahead.

The main asset the Sixers lost in the Harris deal is the Miami 2021 unprotected 1st which will likely be a mid 1st.  Shamet is a nice young role player (late 1st) and the 2020 Philly pick is lottery protected and likely to be a late 1st.

If Harris and Butler walk, the Sixers would have 40-60M in cap space depending on what they do with Redick and their other free agents.  They could do a lot with that to build around Embiid and Simmons.

Have any of these Supermax extensions worked out well for the team?

Do you think this means they know Kawhi isn't coming?

Jimmy Butler meets with Heat officials at 6:01 PM ET tonight but continues to draw interest from a number of suitors, league sources say, with the Lakers making the latest aggressive bid. Lakers officials, I'm told, are pushing for a pitch meeting with Butler

Wow. If he will already announce tonight without any other meeting, then that means it has to be down to Golden State and Brooklyn, right? I'd have to lean toward him taking the full five year max with Golden State, who is rumored to be offering him that as soon as free agency starts. Crazy.

Butler expected to go to Miami

Philly can still put a good team on the floor, but are they clearly better than the Celtics with Kemba?  I do not think so.

If Kawhi goes west, Cs could be #2 team in east without giving up anything.

Free agent guard Garrett Temple is getting strong interest from Brooklyn, source said. Denver, Utah and Houston also interested.

I wonder with the news about Durant announcing his decision tonight and now these reports that Kyrie and Brooklyn are looking for other vets to join them, if they know that KD is going elsewhere, likely back to GS? Would make sense.

I don’t think al can be playing power forward. This is the opposite direction players move as they age. It also is starting to seem like al is coming here

Predictions for the major free agents tonight:

Kemba to Boston

Kyrie to Brooklyn

Klay to GS

Butler to Miami

Durant to GS

Kawhi to Toronto

Horford to Boston (after three team S&T deal goes through)

Harris to Brooklyn (it's a coin toss between Brooklyn and Philly for me)

Russell to Minny (S&T Wiggins back in return)

I don't think Brooklyn is even in the conversation for Durant. I think it's Golden State, New York and LA Clippers as a possible dark-horse.

For Celtics fans, best case scenario is Durant and Leonard team up on the Clippers. Gets Kawhi out of Toronto and out of the East.

I been saying dont be shock if Al goes to Philly..Embiid at C..Al at PF

That just does not seem like a good pairing. Al is starting to lose a step and will only get slower moving forward, so going back full-time to the PF position just doesn't make much sense to me.

I think Al stays in Boston once they get this S&T situation worked out. He always wanted to resign here anyways, and I think he will do so now that Boston is more willing to pony up the dough with Kemba onboard.
