Sounds like we're trying to clear up some cap space. But for whom?

Can't imagine that we're going to be offering someone like Middleton, or even Kemba Walker, a max. So who do we think we will end up with?

Mike
There's an article I read where the Celts might be open to absorbing a bad contract as long as it is sweetened by draft picks, preferably lottery picks.

So that's one potential use of the max cap space.

Sounds interesting, do you remember where you read that?

I hope not Vucevic, i would prefer Irving + Durant.

That ship has sailed

I like Bryant and Bobby Portis.

I would be doubtful that we are going for Bobby Portis with the new emphasis on character.

What do you mean character? We have a talent issue, not a character issue. We don't need guys to sing Kumbaya in the locker room. We need tougher players who won't back down from adversity.

There are guys who are tough on the court but also make for good teammates. Kyrie was just......in his own world.

Portis literally broke his teammate’s face sucker punching him in practice.  I might be wrong, but that makes for a pretty bad teammate.

And I recall reading that Portis' teammates had his back and Mirotic was the instigator.

Well if Orlando retains Vuce maybe we trade for Gordon and than Capela and get our starting front court? I think it's more realistic to clear space in a trade for a team so they can chase pipe dreams and we can build a really good team.

Not completely.  Portis’ teammates felt that Mirotic should have accepted Portis’ apology instead of giving him the silent treatment when he returned to practice from his injury.  Which there may be some truth to, but on the other hand I’ve never had a coworker break my face, so I can’t speak from personal experience.

Also, Portis’ defense was not so hot.  And the Wizards, despite their dearth of talent, don’t seem terribly likely to bring him back next season.  On a cheap one year deal, he could maybe be in the back of the rotation, but I don’t think he’s worth the trouble.

Had a scary trade idea that would make us a pretty tough out....Horford sign and trade and Smart for Capella and Paul..it works in trade machine and suddenly this is our lineup

Chris Paul
Brown
Tatum
Hayward
Capella

Also makes Rockets pretty good with much needed toughness....hmmmm...gulp.....

Ha. Maybe if we also S&T Rozier in place of Smart, and they throw in a lightly protected 1st maybe 2 of them starting around 2022 when they should decline.  We would be doing a huge favor for them, and tying up our cap space with an aging Chris Paul with a monster contract.  Saying that it is a very interesting lineup.

I actually was thinking of this same option. It could be advantageous to trade for CP3 to infuse a veteran presence on this team. Plus his play has not dropped terribly where you carry a contract and get no value. Lastly, CP3 contract is 3 years in length vs. Horford’s projected 4 years.
