I like Bryant and Bobby Portis.
I would be doubtful that we are going for Bobby Portis with the new emphasis on character.
What do you mean character? We have a talent issue, not a character issue. We don't need guys to sing Kumbaya in the locker room. We need tougher players who won't back down from adversity.
There are guys who are tough on the court but also make for good teammates. Kyrie was just......in his own world.
Portis literally broke his teammate’s face sucker punching him in practice. I might be wrong, but that makes for a pretty bad teammate.
And I recall reading that Portis' teammates had his back and Mirotic was the instigator.
Not completely. Portis’ teammates felt that Mirotic should have accepted Portis’ apology instead of giving him the silent treatment when he returned to practice from his injury. Which there may be some truth to, but on the other hand I’ve never had a coworker break my face, so I can’t speak from personal experience.
Also, Portis’ defense was not so hot. And the Wizards, despite their dearth of talent, don’t seem terribly likely to bring him back next season. On a cheap one year deal, he could maybe be in the back of the rotation, but I don’t think he’s worth the trouble.
