Easy - Sign DLo, then trade Smart and Yabu for Capela...all the while maintaining the cap hold on Terry so he can be re-signed. It gets close there with the #s on Terry.

But, I am assuming you don’t want to give up Smart - so I am not sure what tell you. Capela and Russell make more than the Cs will have in cap space.

Capela is fine, but ultimately I think there are centers out there that can give you like 80% of his production for less than half the price. Every draft seems to half like 3 guys who get compared to Capela.

So technically by himself Smart should work, as (assuming we let Terry go) after maxing out Russell we could take the rest of the salary in our remaining cap space, though I'm not really a fan of that plan. The other way would be to trade Yabu, Semi, and then Romeo and Williams (after signed) to get there, though I doubt Rockets go for that.

Ultimately, I agree that there are cheaper options out there that we could likely sign with the remaining cap space after Russell signed, such as Dedmon or Ed Davis. Plus, Williams could be a Capela clone if not even better in a few years with proper development, so no use trading for him now.

If not signing Russell, I'd like to do an Adams trade with our cap space rather than use it up on Vuc. Adams better fits our timeline if we'd decide to keep him, and I think he'd be a pretty good fit for us while here.

Well it's a hell of a lot better then Steven Adams, who is pretty much the same player as Capella for double the salary lol

Also I'm not sure where you get the 80% of production for less then half the price thing from.  Capella averaged 16.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks last season among with 65% FG.  Do you know of a big man who can give 80% of that for less than $6m a year ?

Jordan Bone would've been a much better pick than Waters. Taller, and probably the best athlete in the draft.
